An earlier comment concerning the freedom of speech question in the Giffords case got me wondering about this. I'd love to see the results, and I'll be sharing the percentages with my government and U.S. classes.
Thanks!

#14, as it has been used to justify unconstitutional mandates on states and has been used to destroy the federalist system set up by our founders.
The income tax amendment has not been anywhere close to as bad as 14....the reach of 16 would not be anywhere NEAR as great if 14 were interpreted in light of the intentions of the amendment.

I have a feeling that it’s going to end up somewhat like this, but I’ll be curious to see which of them ends up on top when a few hundred people have weighed in.
Thanks to the early voters!
The Seventeenth. It was crafted by the Progressives who claimed that the Senate was corrupt because many of the Senators were selected by State Legislatures that were controlled by the Railroads and other Capitalist cabals. The result is the most corrupt Congress in the history of the Republic and a Corps of Elites in the United States Senate who stand unaccountable to the people and to their own States. The intent of the founder was that the House would be the representatives of the People and the Senate the representatives of the States. The President, selected by the Electoral College could stand above politics and govern for the good of the Republic.
The 14th. It was not specific enough and the ratification did not take into consideration how it might be used in future generations.
It was the right the thing to do though.
Prohibition. How else can I drink to world peace if I’m denied my bourbon?
oh, wait, what?
The 26th.
It was a hard choice between 16, 17 and 14, although Congress does have the power to nullify the anchor baby rule as per the 14th Amendment. So it was between 16 and 17. I chose 16 since it was the Amendment that collected the income tax. I think without that power to take so much money from the people, we would not see a lot of this BS today since money is the fuel for all of this. The 17th is a close second, I think the selection of Senators should reside with the States instead of the people at large. The people at large already elects the House.
16th
The sixteenth ... Giving congress and the federal govt a blank check thru which to redistribute the wealth how they see fit... Which was never their responsibility ... And was one of the main motivations that started the revolutionary war
Part of me wanted to be an ass and say the 19th because the democrat party wouldn’t exist without women voting, but I am going to go either the 14th or whichever one is the income tax.
What kind of loaded B.S. poll is that?
Makes me laugh that the 17th makes the list. What a joke. The truth is that the 1st, 2nd, and 4th have all been more detrimental than the 17th.
