So, about that union job security…

Talk about a rocky relationship ending badly…

First, the union boss scolded his members for sharing information with their co-workers about what was going on behind closed doors at the bargaining table. Then, a couple of weeks ago, some individual(s) beat up the union boss.

Now, things are going to get a lot more tense in East Alton, Illinois. On Wednesday, after workers represented by the International Association of Machinists voted down a contract offer for the second time, they learned that their employer was not bluffing about moving their jobs to Mississippi.

Any manufacturer wanting to secure a future for their business need to move to right-to-work states. Like Georgia and many other states in the Southeast. It will be interesting to see what happens in Michigan moving forward as the voters appear to want to change course aftering suffering decades of decline. Will they become a right-to-work state as well and start a revolt in the rust belt.

Unreal! I would never gamble my family’s well being on “They are bluffing” but I guess in those walnut sized union brains there is a new Job next door doing the same job.

Apparently that was the second instance, the first being that Boeing faced a similar assault and decided to move to South Carolina (kudos Jim DeMint!). Oh well, that’s union leadership for you!

I saw this story on the local news last night in StL. The woman they interviewed was a typical union member. "I am losing my job! What am I to do?! The company is selling me out!"

The story went on to say that the rank and file reject two other offers from the company. Whereupon they stuck a very short blurb of the same union member saying: "I voted NO both times."

HELLOOOO! Quitcherbitchin'! You voted "NO" dummy so what did you expect!

Kudos to the company for calling the union bluff. I think its great!

As [union] members ... left the ... hall where the ballots were tallied Tuesday night, more than a few of the employees ventured that Olin was bluffing.

Guess they were wrong. Too bad.

It just goes to show you why the employees of so many businesses resist unionization with everything they have. In in the past, unions that are actually run by the people they represent done good things for their comrades, but that is seldom (if ever) the case anymore.

If would be willing to bet a lot of money that 90% of the “officials” of this machinists union have never worked a lathe, picked up a wrench or drawn a working paycheck as a machinist.

The union does not exist to support the workers. It exists to perpetuate itself. It’s a parasite drawing sustenance from both the company and the workers.

I believe the fact that Quinn (they’ll keep counting until he does) and the dems won re-election has a lot to do with their decision to move. Sure the vote might have a lot to do with it ...I don’t know what was in the contract.

Winchester want a seven year freeze on salaries. Most union members wouldn’t vote for it because cuts should be top down instead of bottom up. The funny thing is they vote democrat every time and they take money fromm the bottom up too. LOL I will buy some more WInchester ammo now to chase ducks around.

You’ve got to be an idiot to join a union in the first place. You are basically saying you think you are a sub-par employee. After all, if you were confident of your superior performance, why would you give up the potential for higher pay and accept a pay scale that will be some average of the losers that work around you ?

If the union is a member of a larger group you are going to get worked over. They will sacrifice your job.

A number of unions have been warned that if they do not make concessions the company will leave. Every time they "call their bluff" they find out it was not a bluff.

The larger brother "hoods" don't care. They stood "tough" for the working man and you can stand in the unemployment line.

Dear Union Leadership and rank and file. Please continue on your present course. Your employers and their capital are welcome here in Virginia and in many other Right to Work states. A further attraction in the Old Dominion is that public union collective bargaining is forbidden by law, hence we control our financial future and our elections are not corrupted by their influence. Sorry about your states’ fiscal condition and, by the way, we have governors who will fight the bailouts you are counting on.
