Muslims speak out against NPR’s political correctness
The Daily Caller ^ | Oct. 21, 2010 | Caroline May

While a Muslim advocacy group, the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), was instrumental in getting National Public Radio (NPR) to fire Juan Williams, some Muslims are speaking out against succumbing to the censorship of political correctness.

Tarek Fatah, founder of the Muslim Canadian Congress, took issue with those who wrap themselves in feel-good sensitivity, while denying the fact that the majority of terrorists are Muslim.

Indeed, the threat is real enough even for Fatah, a liberal Muslim, who looks at women in burkas with skepticism. “I am scared when I see women in burkas, how do I know what is behind that?” Fatah said, noting that many Muslims share his concerns.

“We are victims of these guys. A number of suicide bombers who have attacked have killed people [while] wearing the burka,” Fatah said. “This is the truth, we should be speaking the truth rather than what people expect us to say. ”

Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy, told The Daily Caller that though Williams could have been more tactful, his ouster is symptomatic of the problems Americans continue to face when discussing Islam.

“As much as the way he said it was poorly chosen, the era we find ourselves — of political correctness — we are not able to address what this fear is,” Jasser said. “Anybody that starts talking about this fear gets shut down.”

Fatah agreed, saying that he did not believe that anything Williams’ said was terrible enough to lose his job. “I think it is another expression of political correctness. I didn’t find anything that he said that he deserved to be fired,” he told TheDC.

According to Jasser, the fact that the vast majority of national security threats emanate from the Muslim world makes Williams’ fear reasonable.

If we cannot talk about our concerns, we will never address our issues. It would seem that this is really what groups like CAIR and the liberal media want, constant strife among people so they can continue to have a reason for being.

Anybody who would not feel anxiety getting on a plane with people dressed as Muslims has a problem with reality.

Obama said the equivalent when he said his white granny was afraid when she saw Blacks coming toward her on the street. Why was Obama not fired on the spot? Because both he and Juan were speaking what everyone already knew. C.A.I.R. uses strong arm tactics to silence any and all programs that they think will mention Muslim terrorism, terrorists and the Koranic roots of the evil. CAIR is the biggest treat to American freedom.

I’m not buying this..I might have if it were late next week; but this is a little “sudden” for an outburst like this. This is a little too coordinated for my infidel taste..

It is worth noting that the vast majority of people being killed by Muslim terrorists are ... drum roll, please ... other Muslims.

I have no problem with anyone's personal choice of religion as long as a) they don't try to modify my country's constitution and way of life to conform to a seventh century law code, b) if they want to live in my country they do conduct themselves according to our constitution and laws, and c) they don't follow any stray instructions in their religion to cut my head off if I won't convert, or harm anyone else in the same process.

I may feel sorry about them choosing what I believe to be a false faith, and am ever willing to explain what I believe to be the truth, but after that they can go on their way and worship a statue of Sponge Bob for all I care.

.
Having lived in the ME for many years, members of my family know to stay a VERY safe distance away from any person dressed in a burqa or abayah wearing a face mask. Hell, you don’t even know if it is a man or a woman under that dress.

Of course, here in the naive USA we have to wait for a suicide vest to go off and kill as many people as possible before we stop the wearing of these dresses. And even then, we’ll declare that it was a MILITANT Muslim and that we should not use a broad brush describing Islam and muslims.

You seem to be taqqiya sensitive. Ease up, pour yourself another scotch and fall asleep with the rest of America.

Juan Williams is the upity black man. How dare Juan Williams have an opinion of his own! These upity black people need to be put in their place! Good thing my tax dollars go to NPR to be the overseers of these people. They know how to let these upity black people know what’s what and who’s where. Doesn’t Juan know that he OWES the liberals? Doesn’t he know that he has to be PC: tow the official democratic party line at all times or he is OUT? It’s offensive when a white person thinks for themselves, but it’s really offensive when a black man does it: The Uncle Tom oreo. The only people in this country who get first amendment rights are pornographers.
