I recall Glenn confessing that if he wanted Tanya, he had to have a religion and hers was as good as any other.

Totally incorrect. She said she would not marry him without a church, because she would not raise kids without a Christian faith. they then tried out several denominations (Beck himself was raised Catholic) until they decided upon Mormonism partially because he had a longtime manager who had been trying to get Glenn to become a Mormon for 15 years prior, and also because his special needs daughter really loved the people at the Mormon "Temple" in CT.

Beck believes the document is inspired, on par with the Bible (which would not be saying much, from Beck’s point of view). So maybe he believes it is more inspired than the Bible.

You have misread him. He is trying to spark a religious revival in America, by trying to demonstrate to the Tea Party folks who care only about economics, that the Founders were divinely inspired. Forget his religion, forget his mistakes (which aren't too frequent). His passion and energy are a miracle for the Conservative movement. Disagree with some aspects? then help him change, don't try and wreck him.

There are many snippets out there on youtube and elsewhere that tell parts of Beck's conversion story.

But if you really want to understand where Beck is coming from in his own words, complete and unabridged, I would suggest the following DVD or book, filmed and published by Glenn, where Beck tells an audience of nearly 7,000 about his conversion to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

An Unlikely Mormon: The Conversion Story of Glenn Beck

http://deseretbook.com/Unlikely-Mormon-Conversion-Story-Glenn-Beck/i/5005573

But for those of you who don't like Beck's faith, or think he's in the Church without deep convictions, you will not want to read it...

“My life changed,” says Glenn. “I may look the same. I may sound the same. But I am not the same man. . . the healing power of Jesus Christ transformed me.”

I'm just saying...

Ripliancum,

You are being disingenious and you know it. All of the quotes I cited came from an official Mormon source. They are trying to establish that the founding documents were inspired in a supernatural way.

Pardon me for asking....but why the 5 year break in posting and the new found anti-beck fetish? You are pardoned.

The Nicene Creed is not nearly as clear cut as you think. Feel free to visit my home page http://www.freerepublic.com/~reno232/ for an explanation why. To some, the Bible seems to make a compelling argument as to the “fiction” of the Trinity.

I’ll answer when you explain to me why Glenn Beck missed the Nicene Creed by 250 years and how this was not an attempt to impune the Bible as we have it, and further how this is not related to his Mormonism.

I dont have to answer for Glenn Beck...while you should be able to answer for yourself...

I sure you have a reasonable answer for disappearing for 5 years and returning to attack Beck ceaselessly...

Lets hear it...

Crim, you are one nosy guy.

Unless you are buying into one of those conspiracy theories posted last evening.

I object, your honor, irrelevant.

You really don’t have anything better to do than try to figure out why somebody might have posted for a while in a forum, quit for a while, and then come back years later?

Evasive...and still not a reasonable answer...

Deployed?...forgot your log in?....in a coma?...dog ate your PC?

Why a 5 year break?

Why don’t you just make something up, like Joseph Smith did?

Your home page is an exercise in baloney, especially this:

... doctrinally, the Trinity was the point at which Christianity broke definitively with its parent faith, Judaism, and other forms of monotheism.

Christianity broke from Judaism -- doctrinally -- long before Nicaea. Why do you think Justin Martyr wrote Dialogue with Trypho? Why do you think the curses against the "minim" were put into the synagogue liturgy even earlier than that? Why do you think Ignatius of Antioch refers to Jesus in AD 110 with the standard formula used even today in the Eastern church: Christ Our God -- a formula that is anathema to Jews?

Trinitarians are monotheists, btw. That's why the creed begins "I believe in ONE God".

Eventually, Arianism (anti-Trinity) was made a crime punishable by death, & anti-Semitism a practice sanctioned by the church.

When, where, and by whom was Arianism made punishable by death? Dates, names and places. What practice of "anti-Semitism" are you referring to?

Maybe you were on an archeological dig in Central America, looking for evidence of battles fought with steel weapons on horse-drawn chariots around 400 AD.

Somehow the word “definitively” must have escaped you. Was the theory of the Trinity around before the council of Nicea? Of course. Was it definitive doctrine? No. That’s a big reason why the held the council of Nicea, to come to a consensus. Of course, as presented, there was still hardly unanimity, w/ in fact the majority voting on the side of Arius @ the councils of Rimini/Seleucia.

The doctrine of the Trinity swung back & forth for years in the church w/ Arius & his followers being banned & exiled, just to have the pendulum swing 180 degrees & find Athanasius & his followers banned & exiled later. For something that is touted as being so clear cut by Christians today, it certainly wasn’t very clear cut back then, & they were a lot closer to the time of Christ than we are today.

As far as Arianism being a crime punishable by death is concerned, I don’t think you’ll find many theological histories that don’t mention it. In fact, do a Google search & you’ll find a plethora of info on the matter.

I notice you didn’t mention anything about the scriptural evidence, the Johanine Comma, etc. Perhaps you didn’t have the time. I would recommend re-reading. It may not change your mind just as Columbus didn’t change the mind of all the “flat earthers”, but it may be useful to you.

I appreciate your fervor even though I may disagree w/ your delivery. Best wishes for a great week.

“Why don’t you just make something up, like Joseph Smith did?”

It’s a pretty simple question...where did you go for 5 years?

Why the sudden reappearance?

And what’s with the Beck Bashing?

And you are being evasive and now openly hostile...

Such a thing peaks my curiousity....especially for someone who claims to be a Devout and “True” Christian such as yourself...

What is it that you clearly feel the need to hide?...rather than simply sharing the truth?
