Anonymous sources in law enforcement in the Laredo area tonight have passed on word that US law enforcement agencies are in the area and are weighing their options regarding the ranches. The media has been silent on this incident and some law enforcement in the area says that they are furious that the media is not reporting the whole story of the continued violence along the border. Their frustrations are understandable because keeping the truth suppressed continues to hamper law enforcement from receiving the true support they need along the border.

The ranch assaults come on the heals of attacks in Nuevo Laredo that shut the city down as a gun-battle raged in the streets. Los Zetas blocked off intersections with vehicles and used fragmentation grenades to attack Mexican law enforcement. In the end 12 were killed and 21 injured in the assaults. Citizens in the area were told to stay in their homes and bullets whizzed all around. ...

I don't think the state, county and local law enforcement officials would allow Mexican drug gangs to just set up on two or more occupied/stolen ranches and stay there on and on.

This is very different from a refusal to enforce the border generally, and a refusal to go after illegals in national parks and forests. Local citizens would demand that something be done about occupied ranches taken over from local citizens.

Thanks for posting this info. My son and some of his friends just recently went to a friends ranch near the border a few weeks ago for fun on the Devil’s River and I worried myself sick the whole time they were gone because of just this kind of stuff.

You and I and everyone else here knows this but I don’t think the feds would look at it any different and I think local law enforcement would look to them before making a move.

If anyone has unlawfully taken over someone else's property, the state, county and local people would have jurisdiction. That is not a federal question, but a local one that violates all sorts of state laws, including simple trespassing. Can local law enforcement respond if illegals are robbing a bank, or holding up a convenience store?

But I'm not convinced this has happened. Why would Mexican drug cartels take over ranches on the US side? It makes no sense.

It is going to happen too skeeter and probaly sooner than we think. Now the cops will go in and take the ranches back qand then the Mexican govt will sue them for using excessive force.

Story sounds fishy. But, if true, guys like Ted Poe would be on it like the proverbial fly on $h!t. And don’t look for Gov. Goodhair to say anything about it, because he’s running scared in the re-election battle with Bill White.
