Yikes! This is not far from our family hunting lease. I wonder if they have taken over our hunting trailers? Like a safari.

If you need an extra gun, I'll take a weekend off to come have a look-see with y'all.

I've got some new night vision gear that needs breaking in anyway...

The rumor being reported here is 4th-hand at best. “If true” is an excellent thing to keep in mind.

And been passed through a few blogs as well all looking for hits. I have no doubt that the gangs are operating in the US in some form or fashion. But have they taken over the control of two ranches on the border? Where are the land owners and what are they saying? Did they sell the ranches to the gangs? Where is Gov. Perry and the Texas Law enforcement if they are taking private proper in Texas?

1. There are drug dealers bringing drugs into the US.
2. Washington DC was names as one of the top cities in drug use in the USA.

Therefore Washington DC does not want to close the borders because it would cut off their supply of drugs.

How about that thesisi?

What is a drug gang going to do with a ranch on the American side of the border? They’d be sitting ducks whenever any local, state or federal law enforcement agency decided to move in on them.

They don't advertise that it's their property so nobody knows about it until LE is tipped off. This isn't unusual. Cartel members live and own a lot of property in the SW US.

Thanks for the kind offer but I just checked with my husband and we did hunt right there where the ranches are supposed to be but we have moved on. Not that I would know, I only go for the arrowhead hunting and this latest place doesn't have any.

I get your points - you are correct, of course. But I think anything to do with illegals (or to be PC about it - Displaced Foreign Travelers) would give any local (state/county/city) law enforcement personnel second thoughts. I think they’re all afraid of the feds which is absolute nonsense anyway. Wouldn’t the feds look at it as their job and the locals usurping it? Who the heck knows anymore?

As to WHY would the cartels take over US ranches - Because they can? Again - who the heck knows? I don’t live anywhere near the border area but I can certainly sympathize with all those who do. That’s not to say we don’t have our share of the “whatever you want” to call them this week....too many for sure!

It’s time to put the military - tanks and planes on the border - way past time! Use them for target practice. Wasn’t it the neutron bomb what would kill people but leave buildings standing? There you go - the ranchers get their property back - they just have to dig big holes to bury the refuse!

WHEN IS OUR GOVERNMENT GOING TO STOP THIS CRAP?

Never. Unless American citizens take care of it themselves we can expect to see the same kind of violence and choas here as there is in Mexico.

Yup, Ruby Ridge, Waco, numerous other incidents on the Indian reservations — all when the govt takes up arms against Americans but never against the invading army. We citizens will be corralled, gunned down, and/or under martial law before they ever raise a finger to stop the illegal invasion.

Unbelievable, that this would be happening in our own back yards. It’s got to stop...somehow,someway,by any and all means necessary...If AZ & TX would call out the Guard now,use whatever is at their disposal to stop this...I say,do it,do it,by all means! It’s gone wayyyy past politics and game-playing now. I say do what you have to do,and the consequences be damned!!!!!!

Looks like there is a need for a different kind of hunter now. Turn those trailers into APCs.

My main point is that these people aren't just illegal entrants, but also people who've apparently broken a number of Texas state laws, and are therefore subject to the jurisdiction of state, county and maybe also local authorities depending on where they might be located.

But the story still sounds fishy, that drug gangs have taken over ranches owned by US citizens.

The ranch assaults come on the heals of attacks in Nuevo Laredo that shut the city down as a gun-battle raged in the streets.

But if that is accurate, and under a headline about ranches in Laredo, Texas, then it means that ranches in the USA were assaulted by drug gangs. - Sounds like a dumb move, and I'd still like more sources on that.

So why isn’t Texas following Arizona’s lead?

Gov. Perry, a former Democrat turned Republican, is not inclined to take much action. He talks conservative at election time (this year) but sometimes plays the RINO at other times. Contrast that with how Texas responded to a similar situation in 1859 (Source: the State Gazette newspaper of Austin, Texas in the November 12, 1859, issue):

Affairs on the Rio Grande

We are informed by friends from the Rio Grande, that at last dates, Cortenas [a Mexican bandit] was on this side of the Rio Grande, with a force variously estimated at from two to six hundred; that he had complete control of all the country except the city of Brownsville, and this was guarded day and night by the citizens.

His parties are scouring the country, robbing and destroying property and farms and residences of the American population. That he has destroyed Nealsville, and had stolen 150 beeves from different owners. That the life of an American citizen is unsafe outside of Brownsville, and not very safe within it. That the American families had fled for protection to Matamoras in Mexico, and that the company of Mexican troops was still in Fort Brown [in Brownsville] giving a protectorate to Texas. They are subsisted by the citizens of Brownsville, whose Committee of Safety raised the means by private subscription. The U.S. Mail still continues to be rifled, except the New Orleans mail, which is now sent to Brownsville via Matamoras in Mexican territory.

We think the United States ought to be concerned in breaking up these brigands and outlaws in view of their attacks upon the mail if not for the lives and property of Texians. ...

The Texas government then sent Texas Rangers to South Texas under a fire breathing old Texas Ranger captain, John Salmon R.I.P. Ford. Ford chased Cortenas back into Mexico, followed him across the border, and beat Cortenas in battle in Mexico.

And from the link:

The bloodbath continues along our southern border and now word is coming in that Los Zetas, the highly trained killers formerly with the Gulf Cartel, have crossed into the United States and taken over at least two ranches in the Laredo, Texas area. I am receiving word that the owners of the ranches have evacuated without being harmed.

Nope, we're not misinterpreting the story, though it does sound fishy.

I would opt for an A-10 cleansing first. At least cut the supply lines.

An act of war. A state of war now exists between the United States and Mexico.
