**couple adult words in full text** To tie it together... If the new law is passed granting the president power to turn off the internet (just like they can in China, folks), the government will be able to stop all flow of information in and out. And....wait for it!!... if Leibowitz' ideas flow into the form of legislation as the administration wants and that legislation is passed, the government will have control of 'traditional media outlets' like all of the news we get on our televisions. So, we are giving the government the power to shut off our internet during a declared national emergency which will leave us with government controlled information on our televisions.

I think it has been said a couple of thousand times around here....after they get rid of the 2nd Amendment, they will be coming for the 1st.

But first they have the get rid of the 2nd Amendment. And that isn’t working out the way they thought. But they will push, and push and the only thing we can do is push back harder. Everybody should be screaming bloody murder about the Internet bill.

Here is the bill status:
House — Referred to House committee. Status: Referred to the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and in addition to the Committees on Homeland Security, Intelligence (Permanent Select), Armed Services, the Judiciary, and Education and Labor, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker

Senate — Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Ordered to be reported with an amendment in the nature of a substitute favorably. In English, that means the committee reported it favorably to the full Senate with the following amendment.

Here is a link below to the substitute amendment, which is very sinister sounding.

It has to go through six House committees. That should slow it down a bit, unless the Senate passes it and Pelosi brings up the Senate version and bypasses her own committees. If this happens, it will happen sometime after the election, probably shortly before the 111th Congress adjourns. Lame ducks, in several senses of the word.
