The plan to place a pro-life ad amongst the parade of beer commercials that traditionally have dominated the advertising sponsors of the televised Super Bowl has stirred supporters of abortion to oppose its broadcast. In the ad, Heisman Trophy-winning college quarterback, Tim Tebow tells the story of how his mother chose to give him life after doctors advised her to abort him.
Feminist lawyer Gloria Allred has urged Les Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS, to block the because it is misleading. The implication that any fetus saved from being aborted will grow up to be a valuable person is about as far from the truth as you can get, Allred asserted. The vast majority of abortions prevent unwanted births that would otherwise ruin the lives of everyone involved. The vast majority of women contemplating an abortion should not be allowed to be dissuaded by such blatantly biased propaganda.
Allreds take was buttressed by Joy Behar on the ABC TV show, The View. Behar belittled Tebows pitch for life, characterizing his story as improbable. Any woman who foregoes an abortion on the chance that her child would live a worthwhile life is bucking the odds, Behar contended. Its more likely the child would grow up a racist or pedophile. We shouldnt be promoting advertisements that distort this reality.
Jehmu Greene, President of Womens Media Center, called the proposed ad a thinly veiled attempt to subjugate women to a patriarchal agenda. Theyre saying that being a mother is a better choice than having an abortion. Well, being a mother exposes a woman to a lifetime of obligations that an abortion would avert. Pressuring women to accept these obligations with a high-profile ad is a manifestation of the kind of male-dominated culture our organization has been fighting. The fact that the ad is slated for a football gamea male-centered form of entertainmentreveals, I think, their true objective.
A statement from the National Organization for Women (NOW) reminded that we shouldnt allow women to be influenced by this one exceptional case. Theres a greater chance that a woman could end up the mother of a severely handicapped child, like former Republican vice-presidential candidate and Alaska governor, Sarah Palin did. The proposed ad conceals this truth. It is unfit for TV.

Any woman who foregoes an abortion on the chance that her child would live a worthwhile life is bucking the odds,
These people are just plain EVIL!
Where’s the satire part, John?
Dennis Prager yesterday warned about the glut of SB “issues” advertising that might ensue from this. ‘Not sure he’s wrong. But these “feminists’ are sure howling now.
Translation: It's more likely the child would grow up being a tea party patriot. And us lefties can't have more of those "crazy bastards". She is such a TWIT!
Here’s a novel idea. Instead of attacking the Tebows for telling their good news story that turned out well, why don’t the Progressive Choice people present a million $$ ad from their perspective? You know, exercise free speech instead of trying to silence it. They could have a well known movie star or singer come forward and talk about how they were young and not ready to start a family so they killed their baby and what a wonderful “choice” it turned out to be. How they are certain their child would have ended up a degenerate or criminal, and as a result of their actions, they are now rich and famous? Yeah, right. Like that’s going to happen. Their position is indefensible. That’s why they’re pissed.
The fine line on that one was almost invisible. You’re good.
Yeah pretty good.
Do you realize how many heart attacks you may cause?
I’m waiting for:
1) the atheist groups to start protesting FOX announcers for using the term the ‘Hail Mary’ pass used often at the end of each football half.
2) PETA protesting the term ‘pigskin’
3) Anti-war groups protesting the term ‘bomb’ when FOX announcers describe a long pass.
4) NAACP protesting that their are not enough ‘people of color’ in the head coaching ranks of the NFL
5) the food nazi’s protesting all the junk food commercials that aired during the super bowl-—Doritos, that’s YOU!!
6) N.O.W. protesting EVERY commercial that shows a beautiful female in a bikini.
7) anti-alcohol groups protesting EVERY beer commercial...Budweiser, Coors and Miller Lite
Talk about showing your eugenics core! What is this “valuable person” and who decides who is valuable? I don’t much think most lawyers are “valuable” good thing I don’t get to decide who is *valuable* huh Gloria!
BTW my theory is that the louder they howl the more abortions they have had.
we shouldnt allow women to be influenced “
ALLOW??? That doesn’t sound anything like choice. That sounds like censorship and control.
Because liberals only believe in free speech for themselves and no one else.
AGHHHHH! You did it again.
Satire is a lot harder to do when your subject is already a self-parody.
An excellent idea and great observation. I'll have to remember it whenever the left wishes to "ban" this or that on a whim. These people are the antithesis of freedom and can't even see it.
I can't wait to rub some leftist's nose in it: I'm so sick of their perverted view of America.
wow
