The Undies Bomber NOT a Security Issue But a White House Embarrassment Issue?

What was the 9-11 Commission for anyway? Recommendations put forth just “shelved.”

Red flags ignored:

Father warned that son had become radical; information given to U.S. Consulate in Nigeria.

Undies bomber bought ticket with cash.

Undies bomber had NO LUGGAGE.

Undies bomber had no passport. BUT had US VISA. HOW did he get a VISA without a passsport?

Has anyone even looked into the “well dressed man” that accompanied the undies bomber and assisted him getting on the plane in Amsterdam?

=================

Now the White House is in FULL damage control mode trying to cover up their political incompetence on a major American security issue.

How inept is our current Administration?

The Washington Prowler at American Spectator writes:

On December 26, two days after Nigerian Omar Abdulmutallab allegedly attempted to use underwear packed with plastic explosives to blow up the Amsterdam-to-Detroit flight he was on, and as it became clear internally that the Administration had suffered perhaps its most embarrassing failure in the area of national security, senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns — if any — from the Bush Administration.

“The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office. “We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we’d declassify it if necessary.”

...Is there a coverup or “spin” on the fact there were TWO possible terrorists on the same plane? Has the FBI been told to cover up this fact? If so by WHOM?

It is now the year 2010. The “spin” of the White House needs to stop pushing the fault of any incident onto either Bush or Clinton. They need to take accountability for their own actions or inactions.

With David Axelrod sitting in on security briefings as to the “way” to spin any news coming out of the White House just proves the lack of confidence in themselves over handling a security breach/issue.

The Apologizer in Chief has just emboldened the terrorsits throughout the world. By treating the undies bomber as a common criminal instead of sending him DIRECTLY to Gitmo for interrogation, AS A TERRORIST, just proves this Administration is inept in every sense of SECURING America.

I don’t understand why paying cash for a ticket necessarily is a red flag.

Some einstein in Washington said so. If I was on a suicide run, I would have no problem charging a bill I'd never have to pay for,(I'd also be glad to check a bag full of crap just to appear innocent) but I guess the spooks don't think that way.

“I don’t understand why paying cash for a ticket necessarily is a red flag.”

Because it is harder to get a credit card under a false name than a US Passport...

I don’t understand why paying cash for a ticket necessarily is a red flag.

It's part of the profile. It's simply a fact that most terrorists/hijackers have:
- Purchased one-way tickets.
- Paid cash.
- Checked no luggage.

Normal business and pleasure travelers purchase round-trip tickets with a credit card and check some luggage. Not doing so automatically puts that passenger into the "Unusual" category.

It a shame that our security and media have shared these facts with the media, any terrorist worth his salt would now avoid these profile points.

Agreed, nor flying without luggage. The last couple of times I’ve flown, I’ve sent a box with clothes, toiletries and such by FedEx Ground to the friends I’m staying with, as it costs about as much to send my stuff ahead as it does to check a bag with the airline — and I don’t have to mess with luggage at the airport.

“The idea was that we’d show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could,” says a staffer in the counsel’s office.

So it's the classic "We may suck but our predecessor sucked even more" defense. That's something I'd expect to hear on a kindergarten playground and NOT from the "leader of the free world". That whole "we inherited it" shtick is getting REALLY tired Bambi. You've been in office for 11 months there skippy, if it was that bad YOU should have begun correcting it by now. Time to put on the big boy pants and take responsibility. I'm so fed up with the boy-president I could scream!!!

Probably because they don’t want a paper trail. Even if you’re dead there’s an address and ssn that can be a potential lead. It may expose the rest of your cell, these jerks don’t usually act alone.

The White House is the threat to the American People. Period.

Congress will change hands and attack the Muslim Commander. This isn’t over.

Profile, eh? Would “middle eastern descent” happen to be on that profile? Don’t see it in the enumerated points.

If so, how does this justify THEIR lack of Intel efficiencies???

One’s national origin and travel history would be part of the security screening profile if I were running the show, but even without it you could eliminate +90% of airline passengers with a quick profile check. Then you could concentrate your secondary screening process on the -10% of passengers that need it.

...nor flying without luggage.

Agreed, at least domestically. Since the Airlines have started charging for checked baggage I see many more travelers not checking a bag.

However, on international flights one or more checked bags is still the norm.

Why don’t they just focus on Muslims and give American-Americans a dang break? They selected my 83 mother in law for a special search at the airport a few years back. It was the last time she went into an airport.

When was the last time an American Christian blue haired old lady bombed anything? Our law enforcement and political leaders are absolute, pin headed idiots. We let them get away with it.
