Terrorism? What terrorism, asks media?
The American Thinker ^ | December 27, 2009 | Henry Percy

"In what the White House called an attempted act of terrorism ..." Thus begins the Arizona Republic'sstory on the attack on Northwest Flight 253 (though the Republic's story is credited to the Washington Post, there are significant differences between the Republic's version and that in the Post, found here).

Two things leapt to mind as I read the opening: 1) Just why is it important that the White House called it terrorism? Is the subtext that President Obama is somehow "tough" on terrorism? Would it matter if the reporter's Aunt Mame defined it for us? Isn't any reader with a sixth-grade education, the target reading level of American newspapers, able to figure that out for him/herself? But now we know what to think, because Obama told us so. 2) It's an "attempted" act of terrorism. No terrorism here, folks. Yes, "several of the 278 passengers receiv[ed] minor injuries," and there will no doubt be counseling for post-traumatic stress disorder. But maybe just the knowledge that it was simply "attempted" terrorism will be comfort enough to all those aboard Flight 253.

And the New York Times is mystified as to motivation: "What led a worldly young man, who had studied at an elite British university, to choose suicidal violence?" Islam just never occurs to the erudite reporters and editors at our major news organizations. How long till we are treated to the meme that Abdulmutallab was simply a confused young man in need of psychological evaluation and counseling?
I know I've answered this question myself many times over the past 9 years but I'm going to ask it again, just to see what others think:

Obviously the leftists who run and write for the Slimes are not Muslims. What do they think they are accomplishing by shielding Islam from any criticism? What is their motivation?

I know the obvious answer: leftists hate everything to do with America, the success of America, the power of America, the liberties and freedoms of average Americans, so Islam is their ally against all those things.

But is that all there is to it? Is there something we're missing here?

And yet Hussein has not found time in his busy vacation schedule to address the nation. Surfing with Chewbacca must be more fun than dealing with acts of terrorism. Pathetic.

There are several points here:

First, the media has self-defined terrorism to be poor people with nothing to lose.....not rich kids. Of course, this ignores the fact that Bin Laden was a millionaire, and that most of the American-born terrorists came from wealthy families.

You see, the media cannot admit that it is liberalism and the hatred of this country that drives wealthy children into the arms of Al Qaeda.

Second, the media still has to protect Obama. If Obama has a terrorist attack on his watch (we now have 2 terrorist acts), then he has failed to protect the American people. Therefore, the media must spin these incidents into something less than real terrorism.

Beside the obvious answer, they're probably afraid of getting sued out of business by the aclu, cair, and other clubs who grovel easterly towards mecca.

The terrorist’s father had denounced him as a nut-job earlier and left an open record of his suspicions. Coupled with FBI records, the usual leftist tack of overlooking this assault as an aberrant case would’ve been embarrassing to the credibility of the administration now in power. Instead, this is one Islamofascist attack that will be correctly labeled in order to keep the sheep confident that Islam’s premier son is doing his best to protect America from radical Islam (ITAO?). The kneepadist media, as usual, are simply watching from their posture at the waist level perspective as the story unfolds itself.

—I've kinda enjoyed not having his mug in front of TOTUS for a couple of days. Also glad Congress is on VaCa— had enough of them too.

Don't forget that most 911 terrorists were also from wealthy Saudi families. Methinks it is a twofold dilemma for the media/leftist types. One, they want to keep the populace asleep so that they can go about their globalist agenda without all that messy ‘nationalism’ popping up and ruining their idea of one-big-happy-human-family. Secondly, they share the odious traits of being from well-off and privileged classes that hate America; to condemn or highlight this contradiction is to indict themselves.

I don’t think the media hates America, but they have a different vision of the way the world works than most of us here. That vision and the Obama vision are close to one another, and I beleve the media is waitng for a lead from the administration as to how to play this latest terrorist attack. It starts with what to call it officially.

They are both more concerned with the style than the substance, and in dangerous world that is a serious problem for all.

The media might not hate “America” if you define “America” exactly the way THEY define it, as a socialist country with them in on what decisions the Socialist Masters make.

But they hate Americans. They hate small business. They hate liberty. They hate people who want to live free.

Which means that, in fact, they do, yes, absolutely, hate America.
