Rush Limbaugh has been the No. 1 topic of conversation in the sports media over the last couple of weeks, as his bid to become a part owner of the St. Louis Rams was torpedoed, in part, by commentators and NFL players suggesting that Limbaugh is a racist who has no business being a part of the NFL. But was Limbaugh treated unfairly by the sports media?
Maybe. Michael Wilbon of the Washington Post and ESPN appeared on CNN's Reliable Sources this weekend and acknowledged that he did not have a credible source for a racist quote he attributed to Limbaugh on Pardon the Interruption. When asked if he should have verified the quote before attributing it to Limbaugh, Wilbon acknowledged that he screwed up.
"No question," Wilbon said. "And I told Rush that -- that's a journalistic no-no."
But while Wilbon couldn't stand by one quote he attributed to Limbaugh, he defended the way he and others attacked Limbaugh -- and Wilbon said that black people across America are united in their belief that Limbaugh should be scorned.
"He is universally reviled by black people in this country," Wilbon said. "That's no surprise -- anybody who wants to walk down any boulevard in predominantly African-American communities will find that out very quickly. ... Let's not make it seem like Rush Limbaugh hasn't insulted black people on his radio show. He's done it for years and years and years. ... Millions of black people know this, and that's why they feel about Limbaugh the way they do."
Tell it to Lloyd Marcus.
Not one player or team owner stood up for Rush against this orchestrated smear of Rush. Maybe Rush will get smart and turn off the the Michael Vick thug league. Ball games are for morons who enjoy mindless “entertainment.”
Most Black people have no idea who is Rush Limbaugh. Get Real!!
Yes we know it is true but we have to lie and make things up to prove it.
How does one reason with these people?

Wilbon should be sued.
...repeat the lie often enough. I wonder how many 'revile' him because they actually heard him 'insult' them or if they believe what they are told to believe? If Rush was so racist, why did they need to make up fake quotes, they should have found thousands of examples. At that, the only true quote they could find is the "Magic Negro" song- what they don't realize is that song is mocking the racism of the left and it is full of racist quotes by liberals including the Vice President.
Wilbon is and always has been a pro-racism (if it favors blacks) journalist. He was instrumental in getting George O’Leary ousted at Notre Dame for embellishments on his resume and getting a black man, Ty Willingham an interview and eventually the head coaching job because of the color of his skin. Years later O’Leary is head coach and Central Florida and Willingham has been fired by both Notre Dame and Washington. I think time has told which was the better coach.
“”He is universally reviled by black people in this country,” Wilbon said
Tell it to Lloyd Marcus. “
Tell it to Bo Snerdly, Rush’s right hand man for many years.
Wilbon is just a run-of-the-mill nobody.
That’s not true, several did and one Seattle Seahawk called him Friday and said good things about him on the air. However, they should have been more vocal about it, hard to do though when the media only wants to use people with bad things to say.
Another one of that unending supply of people who speak for all blacks. There are so many.
Agreed.
Mike Wilbon is a liar.
No he’s not. Not every black person is stupid, believes propaganda or is a bigot like yourself Wilbon. People with a mind of their own who actually listen to his show know the truth.
Guess this idiot has never heard of....Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Rev. Hutcherson, Juan Williams, Bo Snirdley, and the untold millions of other likely Blacks who SUPPORT Rush....because they have BRAINS!
Damning. Flawless. And I agree.
The guy in Seattle was a player and a preacher now. He is a friend of Rush’s. Rush got the Twana Brawley treatment. Maybe he will stop promoting the NFL thug league on his show now. The NFL is for chumps who like to watch felons. The NFL also practices reverse racism.
