Sweet: Palin hits Obama on missile-defense cuts

In one fell swoop, a well-placed criticism of Obama and a juicy cut of red meat for the base. Nicely played. “I am deeply concerned with North Korea’s development and testing program which has clear potential of impacting Alaska, a sovereign state of the United States, with a potentially nuclear armed warhead,” Governor Palin said. “I can’t emphasize enough how important it is that we continue to develop and perfect the global missile defense network. Alaska’s strategic location and the system in place here have proven invaluable in defending the nation.” Governor Palin stressed the importance of Fort Greely and the need for continued funding for the Missile Defense Agency. The governor is firmly against U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates’ proposed $1.4 billion reduction of the Missile Defense Agency. Greely’s isolated location in Alaska as well as its strategic location in the Pacific allows for maximum security and development of the country’s only ground-based missile defense complex. “Our early opposition to reduced funding for the Missile Defense Agency is proving to be well-founded during this turbulent time,” Governor Palin said. “I continue to support the development and implementation of a defensive missile shield based in Alaska. We are strategically placed to defend the critical assets of the United States and our allies in the Pacific Theater.” Missile defense isn’t even the worst cut, in my very poorly informed opinion. Scaling back the F-22 — a key to total air superiority — is. See Danger Room for details on that; the Pentagon wanted almost 200 fighters more but Gates decided that our new emphasis on wars of counterinsurgency means that 180+ are enough. He also decided to scale down Future Combat Systems, which is bad news for the warporn addict within but acceptable to bean counters. It sounded like a boondoggle.

That’s my girl!! She is a fighter and she will never back down. She will do whatever necessary to protect this great country. She knows what Obama is doing will destroy this country. I wish Sarah were President right now. We would be a lot safer and in a lot better shape

Good job. Get her out there on foreign and defence policy issues. Show the public that she knows her stuff and has more balls than Obama.

This is why the media keeps trying to hit her private life, they think that they have to do that to turn conservatives against her, but little do they know we respond more strongly to a leader with a clear idea of what this country is all about.

Well said. And it's been a long, damn, time since we've had such a person at the top.

Knowing what this country is all about would seem elementary if you've ever said the Pledge or gone to a baseball game.

Knowing what this country's all about doesn't take genius- just understanding what freedom and liberty mean. If the courts can agree on the meaning, then you have justice. Pretty simple, if you ask me.

Why is it that with Democrat presidents that their first ladies seem to have the balls in the family?

The best part was the following item inserted in the comments that followed:

“My lib friends really don’t like Palin, they think she’s really stupid.

gmoonster on April 6, 2009 at 8:37 PM
Wanna see their heads explode? Tell them that MSNBC’s polling showed that O’bama won 70 percent of the high school dropout vote. Palin only got 29%.

And then when you are picking them up off the floor, remind them again that it was MSNBC that discovered this.

Del Dolemonte on April 6, 2009 at 8:42 PM”

LOL!!!!!
