O Celebration: It's Not Racism
Nietzsche is Dead ^ | 6 Nov 08 | foutsc

Black voters turned out in force and voted overwhelmingly for Barack Obama. General Colin Powell endorsed him. An emotional Condoleezza Rice spoke Wednesday of how excited she was to see this historic event. Some are pointing to this as black racism. That's nonsense, and here's why.

We're all aware of the history of race relations in this country. Even those of us who under no circumstances would have voted for Obama can at least breath a sigh of relief: Finally, race is no longer a barrier to the pinnacle of national and world leadership. As a bonus, we can now look down our noses disapprovingly at those backward, racist Europeans: not one black leader to be found on the entire Olde Continent!

Black voters traditionally vote Democratic anyway, so I don't know how a group of people sticking to their voting patterns can be called racist.

General Powell is a doer, has been all his life. He is obviously not content to sit by the fire with grandkids on his knee telling war stories. His has been a life of dedicated service to his country, and it appears he wants to continue serving in some capacity, regardless of which party is in power. I salute him.

Finally, Secretary Rice. A beautiful, scholarly woman of great accomplishments who has personally been touched by racial hatred as a child. Unlike the Clintons' imaginary church burnings, she saw such things for real. Ms. Rice was 8 years old when Klansmen bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church, killing her 11 year old friend Denise McNair. I can understand her becoming emotional at this historic event.

People of all stripes and creeds are celebrating president-elect Obama. Don't sneer. Be joyful at this historic national milestone, and allow that people have a right to celebrate this momentous occasion.

And once he's in office, fight him every step of the way when he works to implement policies you disagree with. To cut him any slack because he is black would be, well... racist!

I would love to be celebrating the election of a black conservative.

“Black voters traditionally vote Democratic anyway, so I don’t know how a group of people sticking to their voting patterns can be called racist.”

Uh... because they have chosen the democratic party because shills like Jackson and Sharpton have told them that the democratic party is the right party for BLACKS.

Why don't you check with 10's of millions of Republicans who refused to vote for Obama? Maybe some of them can explain it to you, you dolt.

I will NEVER “celebrate” or respect the [voter fraud-induced] election of a Marxist, no matter what “color” they may be.

It was never about race, Obama transcends race, this election was beyond race, the 97% of African Americans voting for him weren’t being racist...right up until the evening of Nov 4, then the historic chorus was “Hooray, we elected a black man”. Lovely.

“shills like Jackson and Sharpton have told them that the democratic party is the right party for BLACKS.”

They’ve owned them one way or another for hundreds of years so why should they change now?

Since I'm such a dolt and you're obviously a rocket scientist, why don't you break it down for us instead of talking in riddles.

It’s also not racist to observe the obvious: If Obama was white he would’ve been laughed out of the room two years ago. He is the affirmative-action President.

“Black voters traditionally vote Democratic anyway, so I don’t know how a group of people sticking to their voting patterns can be called racist.”

Explain why 96% of blacks voted for Hussein over Hillary, who was indinsguishable politically.

They are bigots.

Shocking that Dr. Rice would celebrate this victory given O’s association with the domestic terrorist Ayers.

Guess bombs going off killing white people is okay in her book.

Powell is no statesman. He's a sell-out, was never a conservative and is now just another opportunist. I have no respect for him. Rice is the same. I hope they both live to regret their disloyalty.

I am the author of "this drivel!" My point is a social one, not a political one. There is no way I would have voted for Mr. Obama, but we should at least acknowledge that the average "black experience" and average "white experience" are quite different and that's where this jubilation springs from.

Let them celebrate! It's hard slogging come January and the Messiah's halo will eventually lose its shine. We will really be over the whole racism thing not when a black man becomes president, but when a black president can be criticized and its not called racism.

We conservatives need to oppose his liberal policies, but we can't become the unhinged poop throwing monkeys the left became in their pursuit of Bush. We will have recourse to many reasoned arguments to oppose him. Resorting to race and religion-based arguments will only marginalize us further.

Condoleeza Rice isn’t beautiful, she’s pro-abortion and a regular Judas in our midst. I guess for Jewish readers, she’s a regular Mel Gibson in our midst.
