Caller: Heman HP site

Caller: Heman HP MediaSmart Server EX470

Agent: Bobby Can't explain why the item is more, but if you want to purchase the item and it is the same one, we can price match it for you. You will have to call the call center to complete the process.

Caller: Heman NO U DON"T

Caller: Heman YOU DIDN"T ON THE HP PRINTER

Caller: Heman I"M saving this transcript the same as I saved the printer transcript.

Agent: Bobby HP, since it is one of the "outside vendors", we don't price match. If it's at the AAFES site directly, we can.

Caller: Heman I don't understand what you saying

Caller: Heman why should I buy it from you then

Caller: Heman What is an outside vender

Agent: Bobby Since the item you've found is HP and we offer HP items through their site, we can't price match it. You order from us to save on tax and shipping. An outside vendor means 3rd party vendor, it's ordering from AAFES, but not directly.

Caller: Heman You are telling me that HP sells this Item on the AAFES web site for 100.00 more than from there own web site and you let them get away with it.

Agent: Bobby AAFES does not determine HP's prices.

Caller: Heman I will be posting this transcript on every blod site i can fine

Caller: Heman This is just not right

Agent: Bobby I apologize for that, but you can contact Hewlett Packard at 1 (888) 999-4747.

I was trying to purchase a HP EX470 and found that HP charges the GI shopping in the BX $100.00 That they sell the item on thier web site.

That should be $100.00 more when purchased from the BX.

Different outlets have different pricing structures based on overall expenses, purchasing power, etc. If you find it cheaper from HP direct than the BX, buy from HP direct. That's how the market works.

I believe that GI’s are smart enough to shop around but aafes ought to be as cheap as possible, not $100.00 more expensive.

They may be loss leader items from other outlets, something that the AAFES may not be able to do.

This is real interesting. Two weeks ago, my sister-in-law came to visit me and she took me to the base exchange. I did some price checking. Oh brother! The prices on base were generally higher than the outside stores. Even staples like milk was at least a $1.50 higher than what I got at the local store when the milk was on sale. We were told by the cashier that the prices were a few pennies cheaper at the commissary but not much. I was flabbergasted at the difference in prices. I always thought the base exchange items were less expensive than off base. Not at this Air Force Base Exchange.

Most Commissaries have lower prices then the local area. They fall under DECA.

The Exchange and shoppette are not under DECA. My wife can usually lower prices on most items sold at the BX.

Why do they check your military ID card at the entrance to the BX/PX??

To protect the public!

I thought the AAFES “We'll match it guarantee” (including Shoppettes, Class Six, Car Care and troop stores) didn't include manufacturer direct or online stores. They only recently started honoring “We'll match it” for big boxes like Cosco and Sams.

Just confirmed, right from the terms of AAFES's We'll Match It guarantee:

...Except for the Exchange Catalog and aafes.com, PXs and BXs cannot accept challenges from any catalog or website. Other exclusions include special offers or promotions, free-with-purchase offers, limited quantity offers, bundled promotions, special financing, “gimmick” promotions, special order automotive parts, gasoline, automotive labor/service, double and triple coupons, clearance items, flat percentage off items and vending items.

I have people tell me
“ OH you go to the bx and get every thing cheaper “

That is not true folks.

I look at the bx prices but long ago I decided that the were riping me off. If one shopes they can find better deal down town.

“It was cheaper to buy the same Japanese cameras downtown than in the BX overseas during the 70’s...”

It was also cheaper to buy groceries on the German economy in the early 90’s than at any store on base.
