This is real interesting. Two weeks ago, my sister-in-law came to visit me and she took me to the base exchange. I did some price checking. Oh brother! The prices on base were generally higher than the outside stores. Even staples like milk was at least a $1.50 higher than what I got at the local store when the milk was on sale. We were told by the cashier that the prices were a few pennies cheaper at the commissary but not much. I was flabbergasted at the difference in prices. I always thought the base exchange items were less expensive than off base. Not at this Air Force Base Exchange.
You are getting the picture.
Most Commissaries have lower prices then the local area. They fall under DECA.
The Exchange and shoppette are not under DECA. My wife can usually lower prices on most items sold at the BX.
You see the big sign at the door “if you find it cheaper we will match it.”
The BX or the Commisery ???
Commissary is always cheaper than the PX/BX for food.
