Four weeks after quadruple coronary bypass and with THAT story told, time to pay attention to things that bring about an upbeat attitude. Not to mention an emotion so strong that it equates to nothing less than what life is all about and the joy of being able to live it.
First, the state bird of Georgia decided to build a nest in my hedge roses. I was just so honored. We've got pics of both the hedge roses what took over the world and the Brown Thrasher which so availed itself of that thorny bush.
Second, a video garden tour. My gardens won't win the prizes from Better Homes and Gardens but I built it with plantings from the old homestead and new native plants. This year, the fifth year of my handiwork, it looks right nice.
There's also plenty of garden pics for those without video capability.

Pretty garden, Pat. Thanks for sharing! :)
Thank you for the garden tour!
HEY! We sprinkled bird seed out in the yard this spring and got a flock of all sorts around here this year. I had some stuff on the front porch ready to go to Goodwill when I picked up something to take. It was an Easy Bake Oven box that had an open flap. This Brown Thrasher kept coming on my porch singing and I would go outside and chirp to it. It stayed there every day for a while. Then it started coming in my house when my front door was open for fresh air. It would fly in, sit on my curtain rod, chirp for a bit and then fly out. My daughter in law saw this and almost freaked out, being superstitious and all.
So anyway, we raised a little Brown Thrasher family on our front porch. Watched from eggs to young birds. One day he or she came in and started chirping up a storm. I went outside and she/he landed on the box. I heard the babies in there chirping up away and was worried something got in there. I opened the box lid and all four flew out of the box. I figure this bird called on me to help her/him open the box for her kids, they were sitting there perched and ready when I opened the box. And I got an outstanding gift of seeing a brown thrasher family take it’s first flight!
Well you’re welcome.
Like I say, I might not win the prizes in Better Homes and Gardens but those Brown Thrashers, not to mention a bevy of butterflies, bees and the like, all like my garden.
I consider them the best judges of all.
What a great story.
And you got to see the babies!
I am so jealous.
