The last time the country faced a fiscal crisis, they devised some kind of hare-brained scheme that would have certain "default" actions will take place at year end. Oh the political class talked sweetly to us. "We'll put off difficult decisions until after the election," they told us. So by default, if congress does nothing, millions will be cut from the defense budget, the so-called Bush tax cuts will expire, and other pre-ordained expenses will be cut. Folks, those political voodoo artists don't want to fix a thing. Cause EVERYTHING THE POLITICIANS WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEY SCREWED UP! Think about...

This article, written by me as the whole thing happened within two miles of my home, is NOT on my Blog. I thought about putting my story up on FreeRep because there's some really interesting stories about this woman that came to light AFTER I wrote the article. People have been stealthily emailing me all sorts of things. This episode of Extreme Home Makeover aired the Friday before Thanksgiving. Some of you might have seen it. For now let me tell you of one story I've been getting, don't know it it's true, but this ladies' son, who got his...

… this story of Louis Zemperini was a tale that grabs the reader by both the heart and the guts and keeps a clenched fist on both throughout the read.

The National Chair of the Republican Party came to the swamps of Delaware last week. We’ve got some pics and video. Here’s hoping that peace will once upon descend upon our local GOP that so disrupted our group during the candidacy of Christine O’Donnell. We’ve got a book review of a book that tells a most amazing story. It might be a tale of a famous world’s fair or it might be a shocking story of a serial killer. It mesmerizes, it teaches, it leaves the reader with so much to ponder. It’s “Devil in the White City”. Some links...

Two Books reviews: “Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil” by John Berendt and “Who Named the Knife” by Linda Spalding. One a study of murder and life in Savannah, Georgia, the other, also a true crime genre, is a lesson in just how silly liberals can get. Been reviewing this summer’s hottest reality tv shows, including “ The Bachelorette”, “America’s Got Talent”, “Hell’s Kitchen”, “Project Runway”, “Big Brother”. Check them out. Guest writer Michelle’s got a new WII and weeeeee, check it out. Finally, a lesson for those faux-green fools and how to REALLY put a cap on burning fossil fuels....

We have a review of the Disney documentary “African Cats”. Marvelous camera work but not for every 7 year old. Also, it was the last book written before his death, Michael Crichton’s “Pirate Latitudes” is full of action, color and a true history or pirates and Jamaica. Kaitlyn pays a visit to grandmother and what a capitalist the child turns out to be. But she works hard and earns some big bucks. Her “art”, however…well she calls it “abstract”. Some miscellany for smiles and opinions. What’s with Chastity Bono? Can anybody really change their sex? Also, the story of the dung beetle and...

Catching up on the gardens this week we've lots of pics of the plants this spring of 2011. It's good but there's some horticultural editing needed. Here's a movie review of RIO, an animated film as pretty to watch as too the joyful plot. With an amusing story of a "Blue" bird that visited my own modest backyard. We’ve got a book review of a book that’s nebulous as to weather it’s fiction or non-fiction. It’s True Crime, the story of a cabal of murder investigators of the highest merit. They solve the unsolved crimes of the era and they’re...

Got a book review on the 60’s musical “HAIR”. Yes it’s a musical that defined a generation. This book, titled, appropriately, “Hair” by Eric Groce is chock full of history, pictures, lyrics and memories of this former ersatz hippie. For movies we’ve got a peek into that cuter than cute “Gnomeo and Juliet”. Yes it’s an adorable animated story for the young ones but what about this movie so offended me? In TV we’ve got a lookover of the 2011 American Idol contenders, a prediction on the top five, and some critiques of the judges even. Couldn’t...

Some political stuff, stories of Delaware grass root Republicans trying to wrest back their political party Blue Blood elite, a theory on Christine O'Donnell's reason for dancing, and a bit of satire: "Mama, Make You Kids Grow Up to be Teachers." TV Review-"Grey's Anatomy", "Private Practice". One's a bit captivating, one is a story about basically nothing. Both are medial and might keep a viewer's interest. We got news just over the wire this day of the post, 12/27/09. For the Nigerians have suddenly taken ill on our airlines and balloons filled with explosives stuffed into their bodies might well be the problem. In this True Crime post, we’ve got a couple of airplane updates. First, that AirTran flight during which a fine Muslim fellow acted like an asshole and nothing less…we’ve got yet another passenger verifying this story. And I continue to pound on that Northwest Flight 188 which over flew its destination by over 150 miles. Folks, it’s a comedy of errors that will first make you laugh but will leave you crying. And scared out of your gourd to fly. Will Josh Powell join the likes of Scott or Drew Peterson, ie husbands whose wives go missing while they’ve got...

“Planet 51”-an Okay Stereotype Sort of MovieIt was an entertaining enough kind of movie, “Planet 51”, when granddaughter visited. Granddaughter is 5 year old and by my use of the “wiggle” meter, I’d give this film a c+, at best a B-. The “wiggle” meter is my guide as to how the movie being viewed captivates the younger audience, specifically my granddaughter, who is 5 years old and fairly typical. For the movie “UP”, she did not wiggle once. For this movie she began wiggling about halfway through. Other similar types of movies and the mileage varies. The animation...

It’s time for a True Crime post and some updates on the Balloon Boy, Dave Letterman, Murdering Muslims and William Jefferson, DEMOCRAT, Louisiana. New this week we have sexual perversion stories buried in jars on a remote farm, a fine fellow who murders his senile father on a public beach with a bevy of witnesses. Some stupid criminals and much more.

Here’s two movie reviews, raves both of them. They are so different but provide entertainment and thought. We look at the drama of dogs in “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”. It’s totally not believable but it’s a good watch. “Juno” brings a special pang to the heart of this reviewer as I once found myself in a very similar situation to Juno. But I would never have made the same choice as the quirky Juno. Read the rave review and the personal story that had me and mine going such a different route.

Vanity to my Blog. Here for the first time, the new car perfect for Government Motors…INC…the CZAR CAR! With picture! Also, he/she is eight years old and his/her parents let him/her live like the sex he/she was not born to. Is this right or wrong? Bernie Madoff turns out to be quite the party guy, Obama’s justice department doesn’t trust the local voters, much more. It’s Halloween. Some of our pets dressed for the occasion. Pics! All in this week’s THOUGHTS post.

Thoughts on an Air Force One photoshop contest proving that the scare over New York did NOT have to happen. Arlen gone, Biden gaffes, what's a bigwig and how did the name come about? This and intriguing comments all ending with a smile.

"Saving Mom From Uncle Guido" is a fiction story from "Mystery and Mirth, excerpted for yon enjoyment. For the Micky Mouse head helped her overhear the murder plot and the door disguise helped her stop it in its tracks. It's short and a smile.

We've got video and pic montages of the Georgetown Delaware tea party on 4/15/09, which I attended. Also, a rant and bad guy of the week, only she's a woman and she's the reason I will never trust Barack Obama again. A quip of the week from granddaughter, lots of smiles and sarcasm from last week's tea parties and yes, we have a Good Guy of the Week as well.

He studied how to be a clown at clown school. He farted regularly during rehearsal. He got a point total of FOUR, the lowest ever given by a judge on Dancing With the Stars. He stayed way longer than he should have. Also, the dark horse in this 2009 competition and a guess at the winners as we review Rumba/Jive night on Dancing With the Stars 2009. All with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

It was "Movie" night on American Idol 09 and the mentor was most unusual, yes he was. The judges saved the contender voted off and thank God politicians don't have this option. For who they saved could never win unless at least four other contenders suddenly die. And could Simon be, as he is often accused, trying to influence the outcome of this thing? All with pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

Right here we’ve got the first Michelle Obama fashion show along with my excellent commentary. It’s not all bad but she’s no sophisticated and stylishly understated Laura Bush. For sure she’s no Jackie Kennedy as the gushing Lamestream mavens would have you believe. Plenty of pics, the good, the bad, the ugly. Also, Obamerisms from the past week, tea party updates, my cute nephew Matthew Fish, solid proof that global warming is a joke and ending with a smile on this Easter Sunday Blog post.

Couple of TV reviews this week. First-“The Unusuals”, a cop show that should appeal to both men and women with its, eh, unusual cops, humorous storylines, and very believable scripting. Second-“Surviving Suburbia” with he who looks like the guy most likely to live in this suburbia we are to believe he despises, his hip and happening self, Bob Saget. I go into a rant about this dumb show and my rants are not to be missed. Finally an update on “The Celebrity Apprentice” of 4/5/09, viral videos, over-exposure of those Rivers people, and scripting too dumb to believe. =============== Other...

Tina Fey is an angry woman and it shows, unfortunately, in her acting in the film “Baby Mama”, reviewed in this Blog post. The movie has its funny moments but it’s no great paean to thought and morals, make no mistake. It’s definitely a chick flick, let us not mislead. The biggest surprise is the role played by Steve Martin! ==================== Other Blog posts this week: There were a few surprises in the bottom three on American's Idol Birthday night-4/7/09. In fact, the contender sent packing was only following the advice of vaunted Judge Abdul. A review of AI 09's...

He staples his scrotum to his leg for giggles and grins and now he dances horrifically. And yet he stays around while others must dance off to stay in the contest. A football player and singer fall to the bottom two, one goes home, yet Steve-O hangs in there on Paso Doble/Viennese Waltz night on 2009 “Dancing With the Stars”

There were a few surprises in the bottom three on American's Idol Birthday night-4/7/09. In fact, the contender sent packing was only following the advice of vaunted Judge Abdul. A review of AI 09's birthday night, a prediction of the top 5, the video your DVR failed to record, the top three and worst performance of the night. All with pics and videos you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

It was seriously time for Megan Joy to go although she was sure a fresh-faced beauty and, eh, a bit different. Another top eight contender is also very different and we've got lots on this plus the top three performances of Itune night and the very worst of the lot. With pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

In thoughts this week we've got info on the upcoming tea parties…time for us to take to the streets folks. The shamwow guy, what a shame. We've got an actual cardinal singing of spring to us, the quip of the week, and a rant about Obama hiring and firing folks. Will you be next? Finally, the WORST inventions...ever. A cat wig?

Her bouncy boobs didn't save her and his cadre of geeks with their robo-phones didn't save him. Two contenders booted off of "Dancing With the Stars" 09 and we're almost, not quite but almost, down to a legion of serious dancers. With pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

Couple of reviews here. Beginning with a "Celebrity Apprentice" update and it's about time Dennis Rodman is gone. Reviews of comedies "In the Motherhood" and "Samantha Who?" I'll do my best to be kind. With pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

It was not planned that a 1989 old-fashioned film about parenting and the travails of same would air the seem weekend that I dutifully taped the very hip and modern "Sex in the City" but so it was. So The Wise I gives a review of both movies, the similarities (few), the differences (many...how times change) and attempts to draw a moral from it all. With pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.

So Obama pre-empts American Idol for the SECOND time. And for what? More spending, more robbery of the U.S. Treasury. Also, a phallus on the roof? A ban on bestiality? Good Guy of the Week from England. We need to import them now. Many more Thoughts of the Week.

The crime happened in 1955, but Harry Farrell embarked on the difficult task of documenting the murder of Stephanie Bryan that so enraged California. It's a fascinating trip to crimes investigated in a distant past and players long gone or with faded memories.

It was Grand Ole Opry night and a good time was had by all in American Idol 2009. Carrie Underwood returned, and not a single contender sang anything that sounded like a genuine country/western tune. With pics and video you'll find nowhere else on the Internet.
