having had some personal experience with depression, this DuFu is quite interesting. Any therapist or program of recovery worth a flip will tell you that you have to take responsibility for your own mood. Pills can only help take away the funk to give you the chance to work on your habits. Either you can change, or the rest of the world can change.
These idiots on DU blame everything wrong in their lives on Bush, and wonder why they don’t get any better. Then they come together to affirm the evil of Bush, thereby perpetuating the negativity that permeates their lives. DU is literally a support group for idiots.
Was having sleep difficulties several years ago. Doc perscribed Xanax (should have given me a mild sleeping pill instead, now I have a new doctor, but I digress....)
I took it three nights, and stopped because it scared me so much. I didn't care about anything - going to bed, getting up, house on fire, nothing. I have no idea how people function on the stuff. In fact, one of my co-workers confided to me that she was taking twice the dose that I had. She's less than 1/2 my size, taking twice the meds...We used to go to lunch occasionally, now I won't ride in a car when she's driving.
Disclaimer - I'm sure that it affects different people different ways. And, I'm sure that it does some people plenty of good. But not me.
No clue. I blame docs and druf companies. My best friend needed to take a med to treat his high blood pressure. A side effect was that he would easily become wildly enraged (I saw it, it wasn't pretty) so the doc prescribed some happy pills. Happy pills had some sort of side effect, so the doc prescribed something else. And so on.
My friends bathroom looks like a pharmacy, now. I'd expect it if he was in his 70s or 80s...but the guy isn't even 40 yet. And he's not willing to try another doc, or a different set of meds.
druf compaines = drug companies. Have self-medicated this morning with coffee, yet.
Need coffee. Now.
Your friend sounds like he has a Kaiser Permanente doc. That's what a couple of Kaiser docs did with my wife . She ended up with 12 prescriptions to counteract side effects upon side effects before she dumped them all out and decided to just live with the original problem.
I think they’re actually PROUD to be on meds. Besides, it’s not their fault their crazy, IT’S ALL BUSH’S FAULT!!! See what he’s done!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh
I agree with one of the above posters in that unless it's going to kill you, you're probably better off not getting addicted to some drug to treat it. Popping heavy duty pills because of a joint that's a little sore, or because your tummy hurts, or becuase you're not quite as happy as you think you should be, is for fools. Shame on the doctors for allowing their patients to medicate like this.
Wonder if all of these fools on DU considered that the reason they "need" to medicate, is as a result of their medications?
Now here’s one of the looniest loons over at DUmmies. His/her post are always the same.......

I would love to see the same question asked here.. I have a feeling the #1 answer would be coffee followed closely by beer.
Poor people are in such denial they can’t help themselves.
How did I miss this yesterday?
“One pill makes you DUmmie”
“One pill cuz Gore lost”
Who needs meds? I just talk to the trees!
Great thread! But I always get that naggins suspicion that these threads are actually started by Lousy Freeper Trolls (tm). They are just too good!
