Keeping American Industry and Jobs in the U.S.
American workers are the most productive and innovative labor force in the world. Ominously, China is cheating on trade and using billions of American trade dollars to build ships, planes and missiles at an alarming rate while, at the same time, taking millions of American jobs. I will reverse this one-way street with a new policy of fair trade for the American worker.

I support Fred, but I thought this was something all conservatives should be aware of. Hunter's arguement is well-placed and thoughtful.
I know there's a level of dissent among individual here on certain issues, but I think the issues get blurred at times.
Tell me your thoughts on this video? Anyone know if there's a youtube version of this (or something that can be embedded)?
Ping of interest.
Thank you for posting this thread.
I believe that the forces behind Communism have infiltrated our country from every direction to bring a mighty nation to it’s feet, and that whoever signed the free trade treaty knew exactly what they were doing.
Duncan Hunter is the only candidate running or not yet running who sees the truth, and is willing to put his life on the line to correct the great wrong done to us. Not only does Duncan Hunter have a cool head and a steady hand, he has a clear eye as to how to revive this nation’s productivity, and prosperity by renegotiating that free trade treaty to bring jobs and pride back to the U.S.A. marketplace by making it free trade for ALL parties to it.
Duncan Hunter is our last, best hope of guaranteeing freedom and opportunity to future generations of Americans. Last, but not least, if we don’t BUILD DUNCAN HUNTER’S DOUBLE BORDER FENCE NOW, and ELECT THE VERY BEST MAN, we can say goodbye to a government by and for the people, and hello to a third world status.
Do you mean its knees?
and that whoever signed the free trade treaty knew exactly what they were doing.
What free trade treaty?
Thanks for the thread. I think Mr. Hunter is right on this issue, and that’s why I’m supporting him.
Thank you. I did mean to it’s KNEES.
>What free trade treaty?<
NAFTA, GATT, WTO. That’s my position, and I’m stickin’ with it.
So, how do those treaties bring America to her knees?

You can’t give me the short summary?
That would make our exports less expensive and it would make America a more desirable place to manufacture. Instead of trying to make foreign goods more expensive or whining about China devaluing their currency. If you were trying to make money, would you intentionally pay 40% more for your imports and sell your exports for 40% less?
Quick, let's stop the Chinese from overpaying and under earning. LOL!
Wouldn’t implementing the FairTax remove the corporate income tax entirely (along with a slew of other nasty taxes)?
You'd have to ask a FairTaxer that question. The fact is, our corporate income tax is the 2nd highest in the world, IIRC. Instead of putting a new tax on imports (don't the Feds already get enough of our money?) why not reduce their take and eliminate the corporate tax? Or is that too conservative for Duncan?
Bump!
As I’ve said before, I think Hunter wants to put a tax on the country whose goods we import, not another tax on our exports. Duh.
Why, it was the one that brought America to her feet!
Tell us about the video. What are the important points, if any?
What you said: "As Ive said before, I think Hunter wants to put a tax on the country whose goods we import"
not another tax on our exports. Duh.
I didn't mention our exports. Duh.
For what it is worth, here is what Mr. Hunter said at a GOP primary debate on the subject:
Q: Name a tax you'd like to cut.A: Right now our manufacturers are getting killed. We're seeing manufacturing move offshore because a dumb trade deal that we signed with the rest of the world allows all of our exports to be taxed twice while their exports to us are not taxed at all. The only way that we can even come close to leveling that playing field is to eliminate manufacturing taxes. So eliminate all taxes on Americans who will stay in the US and make products and hire American workers.
(My emphasis added.)
For what it is worth, I think that our tax situation is absurd.
I don't think we should tax the income of businesses. My own preferred solution would be a national retail sales tax replacing all income taxes, both business and individual.
He should have said that in his video.
