Poll question: Who's side are we on? or How would we want it to end?

Right now we have the elections being planned in Iraq. We know the insurgents are going to try to disrupt them with bombs and other attacks. Who's side are we on? Do we think it would be a good thing for the insurgents to force the US to leave or that the elections go through and elect an Iraqi government?

Poll result (156 votes)

The insurgents should win, US leaves... (74 votes, 47%)
The election should be a success. (82 votes, 53%)

BUSHOUT (1000+ posts) Sun Jan-23-05 01:13 PM Original message

Is it wrong to hope that Bush loses in Iraq?

Bush is a traitor to the USA. He has misled the nation into an immoral and illegal war, yet he claims just the opposite. This makes it seem likely he's willing to do the same thing all over again.

He has created a terrorist incubator in Iraq, NOT just a terrorist magnet. Thus the world - including the USA - is far more dangerous.

He is clearly ignorant of the realities and consequences his foreign policy and rhetoric cause. It is evil born of ignorance. Only undeniable reality can stand up against the denials of Bush and his ditto head crew.

Thus...my hope is that the USA is unable to create the perception of a stable democracy in Iraq. If they can create this perception (true or false) then it's a green light for Bush to spread more death and destruction elsewhere in the world. His new doctrine of forced democracy will stand before him like an unfinnished best-seller.

I feel sorry for the soldiers who suffer and die and their families. I also feel sorry for the Iraqis who suffer and die in far greater numbers. An Iraqi life wasted in this war is no less a tragedy than an American life. The only way to limit the loss of life and property due to further Bush crusades is for Iraq to be a defeat for Bush.

3. YES...It is wrong to hope your country loses.

It is wrong to hope we lose and with that lose more of our armed forces.

You should be hoping we win - quickly - and get out of there.

4. Even though it would please me to see bush fail

I'd hate to see Iraq fail for the Iraqis sake. Sort of a catch-22, but it seems to me we should be hoping for the best for Iraq even if it makes bush appear to be a hero.

5. It is entirely possible that the Iraqi's want a government

that will not be consistent with the ideals of the bushtapo. Why would any government allow a foreign army to steal its mineral wealth which ultimately robs its people of their inheritance?

The bushtapo plan is simple and pure republican. We want control of all your wealth without restriction, and you can adopt the entire burden of the social costs which we create.

This is the same plan that he has for America. He wants to legislate religious morality for the worker-bee while removing all moral restrictions (and social liability) from the ruling class.

6. I consider it a moral obligation.

There's a song from a few years ago by Alistair Hewitt, called "New Age of the Fist." I hold these truths, from its lyrics, to be self-evident:

Defeat for a superpower
Even at the hands of a dictator
Means breathing space
For the rest of the human race

Good to see only 47% of DUers unquestionably hate America. I was thinking it was much higher.

Opinionjournal.com's News of the Day (opinionjournal@wsj.com). That's The Wall St. Journals on-line opinion page. They have actually run comments on and links to some of DU's more outrageous posts.

Can any computer people help me with this question?

I frequent Conservative Underground. A place that does a masterful job of cronicling and bashing the America Haters on DUhhh. And I'm also a "Sleeper" on Duhhh.

Anyway...

It's been found-out that the mods on DUhhh can identify those who access their site via links from Conservative Underground, identify them as disruptors and ban them. Any idea if they can do the same via links from here?

For most on that board, history begins for them when they awake in the morning.

And I suspect most of them knew nothing about Iraq, Saddam and Sons, their WMD, sanctions, the Islamic cults and their past history, ect, as a matter of fact, they sound alot like my college age niece.

Upon looking for answers after 9/11, most adults in her life at school, of course blamed America.

Of course when I quizzed her she admitted that Michael Moore was her main source of info.

Sad.

If they can do it from CU, then chances are that they can do the same from here.

They can track your URL cache. Before visiting, clear all temporary internet files, cookies, etc... You can also place the web site in a restricted zone within your IE, but that may prevent you from posting. Web sites can also track the referring URL, meaning the web site you were visiting before DU, if you clicked on a link. Best practice would be to close the browser first, go to your homepage, not FR, and then go to DU.

Other Tips:

Personal Firewall
Spy ware scanner
Web browsing Proxy

WOW! Thanks for the detailed tips!! But, it all looks so complicated, I think I'll take my chances. (No offense to you and the time you've taken to help me understand the situation).

And while on the same subject...

I see people talking about "Clearing a chache" or "Clearing cookies" all the time, like it's no big deal. But, doesn't that erase all the stuff that is saved on websites that I visit? Like user names and passwords. Stuff I don't always remember. Which, creates a hassle for me. (But then again, I'm a computer idiot and accept that fact.)

Correct, If you clear your cookies, and you are storing usernames for web sites, then you will lose that info.

Web proxies are great and very easy to use. Here's a list of free ones on Google. I've used @nonymouse with satisfaction, although it's been a few years.
