It was treason. It was the taking up of arms against a duly elected government. When Lee invaded the North his army stole and looted too. Whats your point? And if the South had won the war it started would it have ended slavery?

“The amount of time that it did is inconsequential”

So you admit the Stars and Stripes is racist. :-)

“It was treason. It was the taking up of arms against a duly elected government.”

1. That is not the definition of treason.
2. Every state had and still has the absolute right to secede from the Union. It was Lincoln who had no authority—constitutional or moral—to stop them.

“When Lee invaded the North his army stole and looted too.”

Within the laws and customs of warfare. What Sherman did would see a general executed as a war criminal if he pulled that crap today.

“Whats your point?”

Don’t know what that person’s point is, but mine is that you are in possession of too few facts to have formed an opinion on this subject, much less an opinion that you defend with such energy.

“And if the South had won the war it started would it have ended slavery?”

Beyond any scintilla of a shadow of doubt. To say even that they might not requires malice of an appalling depth.

Further, to say that the South started the war requires some combination of obdurate malice and willful ignorance.

No, it isn’t. And if you look back at my posts I said the CSA flag was not a symbol of racism.

It was treason. It was the taking up of arms against the duly elected government. And to say the South would have ended slavery if it had won is ridiculous. It could have done that anytime before April 9,1861. The fact of the matter is the North went to war to preserve the union and won. The South went to war to preserve slavery and lost everything and no amount of revisionism and romancing treasonous, slave owning paltroons will change that.

Still avoiding the question, aren't you Madame? Well such is a woman's prerogative.

“Within the laws and customs of war’’. Oh, yes the argument Southerners have used to escape what Lees troops did. And just what are those ‘’laws and customs’’ by the way?

“It was treason.”

Can you cite the names of some of the Southerners convicted of treason? Or is your claim of treason just something you decided to say?

Trick question? Lincoln didn't try either Lee or Davis for treason. No one was convicted of the crime but certainly could have been had Lincoln decided to do so. When Grant left for Appomattox Lincoln instructed him to ''Let them up easy''. Lincoln wanted to ‘’bind up the nations wounds’’ and to quite plainly get the nation back together.

I fly the Stars And Stripes(the flag our men and women are serving under) and what I feel about Obama, were I to vocalize it might quite frankly get me arrested.

“Still avoiding the question”

I’m still waiting for you to answer a question. You seem to want to avoid answering all questions. Why do you think that is? :=)

Lincoln didn't try either Lee or Davis for treason.

It could be the fact that he was dead had something to do with it.

Just because O.J. wasn't convicted of murder doesn't mean he didn't do it.

“It could be the fact that he was dead had something to do with it.”

I don’t care how you feel about Lincoln’s decision to start a war that killed 600,000, your line above is funny.

I wonder what percentage were actually ferried to NA (after enslavement by Arabs and other Africans) on US-flag ships.

I remember researching this once upon a time. The Brits were the big dealers and slave importation on American flagged ships was like 8-10%.
