Romney is just the placeholder until someone comes along that captures America's attention. That may be Perry, but it may not.

Palin is not running. She has tasted the pain a campaign creates. Right now, she is making $20,000,000 a year, and will be a kingmaker in 2012.

If someone who shares her values can be elected, she is smart enough to know that is victory without another round of pain.... and since she will be that person's “kingmaker,” she will be the most powerful Republican for the next 8 to 10 years.

What pain? Have you seen the Palins in any pain? I haven’t. They’ve taken everything the political establishment has thrown at them and have not only survived but have thrived. Ever see them not smiling? And not a pasted on phony smile but genuine happiness. She is running, bet on it.

Nice RNC talking points She is in for the money and should be a cheerleader. I have had it with this crap. Why would she support anyone less conservative then her and if she was in it for money why do some speeches for free and not do season 2 of Alaska?

Palin would be in more demand in her lifetime, and she would make more money in her lifetime if she ran for president.

Palin would be in much less demand and she would make less money than she is making now if she doesn't run.

Palin's so-called "kingmaker" influence, I believe is exaggerated by people who don't want her to run and by people who don't understand why some support Palin.

For example Palin is currently my number one choice. If Palin doesn't run, it would matter little to me who she endorses.

Alaska law governing the statute of limitations ethics violations complaints (39.52.310 - H) states this...

"A violation of this chapter may be investigated within two years after discovery of the alleged violation."

IOW...if an "alleged violation" were to be discovered today then the clock limiting a complaint filing would start ticking today and would keep ticking for two years from today.

There are 24,000 pages of official e-mails being disected as we speak. It is not hard to imagine that the opposition will find more than a few that could meet the very low bar for "alleged" ethical violation.

The law further states that once the complant has been "accepted" by the AG, the subject may be required to provide a written response within twenty days. It further states that a failure to so respond may be considered as an admission of the alleged violation.

A steady trickle of one or two complaints (or more) per week during September and October would de-rail a Palin campaign and cost her significant legal fees.

Palin must know this. The opposition surely does.

The opposition media would have a field day.
