A very sobering @olliecarroll interview with Ukraine’s deputy mil intel chief. He says Chasiv Yar will fall eventually, that Ukraine is far from stabilising the front and that Russia is “generating a division of reserves” & wants to strike at Sumy/Kharkiv.
‘Right now, both sides are jockeying for the “the most favourable position” ahead of potential talks. But meaningful negotiations can begin only in the second half of 2025 at the earliest, he guesses

Ukraine has been on the brink since the invasion began, but in reality, they’ve been on the brink since Crimea was taken by Russia.
Israel is on the brink too.

(Yes,this sounds anti American but my reading of our history since WW2 is we tend to stir up or get involved in other nation’s problems then when the political heat gets too warm, we bail but only after the multitude of deaths and incalculable lost of public treasury and faith in our government.)

I don’t know why the second half of 2025 is the magic date for negations, there must be some sense of logic to it. Could it be he thinks Trump will be in power and insist on an end to this war and it will take a couple months to get it organized?

Yep, that’s exactly what they’re doing. They’re up to the tops of their heads in Ukrainian blood and don’t give a damn.
It will the time of year after the winter thaw when the land is supposedly dry enough to armor to roll anywhere they want.
Russia also has somewhere around 300,000 soldiers in reserve, the speculation is they will take Karkiev and possibly Odessa over the summer.
The speculation is if they take both cities will they make a move on Kiev.
