You’re right, but we—the USA— have been operating like this for 40 plus years. It has been a couple of generations doing this— you can’t even just blame the last two presidents, but the last 7 or 8.
It should matter, but it doesn’t seem to get through. I seriously thought it would bring the country down decades ago, but it hasn’t.

These would force the federal government to cut spending.
We currently bring in 4.4 trillion. We are spending 7. So, we add another 2.6 trillion to the annual debt.
We would also have to raise taxes to bring the budget in line with spending. We have to do both.
IF we did these things, it would strengthen the dollar instead of people trying to figure out how to SELL their dollars and convert them into either foreign currencies, Bitcoin or precious metals.
We are looking at Stagflation because we do not have the fortitude to do what needs to be done.

THe demand for US oil abroad keeps the dopmestic gasoline prices high. This is due to a fall of Russian production and OPEC capping its production.
THe production of US Oil is high but not high enough to reduce domestic prices at the pump for gas.
Asfar as domestic consumption of gasoline. the demand is still not being met sufficiently to reduce domestic gasoline prices.Do we have a lack of refining capacity?
