I almost died last year from what was diagnosed as viral pneumonia in the ER, after I was dragged out of my car at my job. I ended up in the ICU for 3 days and was rescued by 2 friends and sent home to die with an oxygen machine that did not work...it took 5 days to get that swapped our for one that could deliver 2.5 Liters per Minute.
I went from 195 lbs to 130 lbs in a couple of weeks, at home, alone, with only ice water sounding and tasting good.
I do not remember a follow-up appointment with the Quack who had been prescribing IVM to me for 2 years, but would not administer 1 mg of IVM while I was in the ER or ICU.
If I walked 13 steps up to the main floor of my house, it was like scaling Everest and I had to sit in a recliner and rest for 20 minutes, before I could manage standing 2 minutes in the kitchen to nuke a Smokie in a bun.
As the fog started to finally clear, I did a search on Long-COVID and spent $49 for access to 2.5 days of presentations that had cost about $240 when it was Live. The first presentation was by Dr. Syed Haider, the Tele-Doc who had prescribed IVM online in 2020. He said he had a patient who had not been given IVM using the FLCCC Alliance Early Outpatient Protocol.
Dr. Haider suggested that he follow that protocol, after the fact and said it had helped the patient a lot.
So, I started taking 2 doses of IVM every 12 hours. After 24 hours, I felt good enough to shower, dress and drive 35 minutes to my employer to get back on the work schedule. At 130 lbs, I could not stand all day for my first day back...and started bulking up by eating a Smokie in a bun 5 - 7 times each day.
If you have a doc who will prescribe a scrip for IVM, have him fax it to Midwest Compounders Pharmacy in Lenaxa, KS.
The price is now a little over $110 for 30 capsules with weight appropriate doses.

No they are not. 80% of all meds we use in this country are from India and China. I have bought meds from India and have checked the quality and it is the same.
Most all Pharmaceutical companies have manufacturing facilities in India.
My Eliquis is subsidized by the maker but you have to have insurance they work with which is most
First of year it’s fairly high maybe 120
Then 40 per month
Varies per insurance id guess
Xarelto is similar I’d guess
Older gen blood thinners cheap but more complicated

If it were me, I’d also try to diagnose the cause of the clots…
I have a history of A-Fib (from 2015), and was recently put on this med by my VA doctor. The VA calls it Apikiban. I memorized the med nsme phonetically by thinking of “a band of Pixies”. I decided on my own to discontinue Apikiban.
Why? Because after a week or so of using it, I begin to feel greater sensitivity, glimmers of minor pain directly over my heart. Most former A-Fib patients will tell you, after a severe episode, it is not uncommon to feel a heightened sensitivity around the heart, as you get used to your new normal or baseline feeling in that part of the body.
I had gotten used to the new baseline, and had become less worried, less fretfull than I was right after that A-Fib abulation procedure was done. Apixiban seems to bring all those quirks and dings back to an everyday experience.
I still considering other med replacements.
Go to the Eliquis web site by Bristol Myers. Are you on commercial insurance? If yes, apply for ongoing copay support through their program. Are you on Medicare? If yes, you can look at their free goods / patient assistance program. Works for Part D patients if you meet certain income criteria. If approved they will ship the Eliquis to you. You just need to reapply annually. Also if on Medicare Part D, there are insurance changes coming in 2025 and beyond to cap out of pocket expenses at $2000 annually and allow you to smooth them out over 12 months. Again you’ll need to apply annually. CMS is also expanding the Low Income Subsidy. Start with the Eliquis site. Lots of assistance is out there.
Also. Eliquis will be going generic in the not too distant future. 2026 was the latest I heard. There are a couple of generics already approved but they are going through the patent challenges in court.
My mother and my sister-in-law both are on Coumadin. Those weekly blood tests sure mess up schedules.
Eliquis doesn’t require the blood clotting checks, but in no way does it save money. At least for me. :(

A generic was scheduled to be available early in 2023. It was so close, that Humana had already transferred my prescription to the generic in January.

“Fowler’s pharmacy manager David Maney says that could have dramatically decreased the cost of the drug. He estimates instead of $600 a month the cost would be around $12 a month.
“But the generic version of the drug won’t be available for several more years. BRISTOL MYERS SQUIBB AND PFIZER FOUGHT TO RESTORE THEIR PATENT.”
I was so pissed that I met with my someone in my Representative’s (Tim Burchett) office since it was pretty apparent that the pharma companies and FDA are in cahoots. Burchett’s staff guy, who had the personality of an old ping pong ball, muttered that they can’t get involved in private enterprise. Last I heard, FDA isn’t “private enterprise”.
Also, Congress DOES get involved with private enterprise. All the time.
Still pissed, BTW.
That stuff is pricey! I was put on it for life as I was told, but I get it through the VA. If you are a veteran, this is definitely the way to go. You won’t believe the difference in price.
That’s the frustrating point. I told my doctor that I stopped walking during my COVID event. It’s my third time. I was fairly senetary during the illness but the only other thing was COVID. I didn’t throw it in her face that the vaccines are called clot shots for a reason but I thought it was odd is she dismissed it because I didn’t test positive but the doctor who diagnosed it, said they’re rarely testing anymore.
