‘Fatphobic’ Note Left in DoorDash Junk Food Delivery: ‘So Inappropriate’
New York Post ^ | Sep. 15, 2022 | Emily Lefroy

A woman has claimed her DoorDash order came with a free side of fat-shaming — in the form of a passive aggressive note.

A TikTok user who goes by Marina, 26, blasted the food delivery service after she found a personal note in the bag of junk food her girlfriend had ordered, which read “An apple a day keeps the doctor away,” alongside an apple.

In the clip, which has been viewed over 10,000 times, Marina said her girlfriend — who didn’t want to be on camera — has digestive issues and was told to gain weight. So, she ordered a bag of Cheetos, a box of Delimex taquitos and a Dr Pepper from DashMart, a subsidiary of DoorDash. Marina explained her girlfriend “can’t eat apples, so the rude gesture doesn’t apply,” and that it’s a “fatphobic” remark to make.

If she was shamed by being called fat, wouldn’t she not want the general public to know that she was called fat? That seems even more a shame.

I tried everything I could think of to put on weight. Junk food worked.

Why do I get the irking feeling that if you compare the handwriting in this alleged DoorDash note with both of the two girlfriends claiming “fat-shaming,” one of them would be a match.

The only thing missing here so far is the civil suit/extortion to follow, IMO.

Why? What DoorDash driver carries colored markers in their car?

“Fat phobic”—or just rude?

Probably a fake note followed up with a lie.

Whatever. I still don’t believe that a doctor is recommending Cheetos, Delimex taquitos, and Dr Pepper for a patient with digestive problems.

She could save the doordash fee and buy real food.

Yes, but I’m debating the use of the term “Fat Phobic” in general.

Words use to have meanings. Willing to bet whoever did this isn’t afraid of fat people.

First, I think that they had to look pretty hard to find a victim ordering fast food and soda from DoorDash to find someone for whom eating these food is allegedly medically indicated. Sotes also sell Ensure, you know. Notwithstanding, anyone who’s going to attack Delimex Taquitos is going to have me to answer to. They’re delicious . So very nice, out of the air fryer

an apple a day saying is not fat shaming, as the woman assumes it is.

health or wanting to keep the doctor away isn’t all about weight. cancer, heart disease, all sorts of things. but all that lady could think of was fat?

Where’s the fat shaming? Anything to get attention, good grief. I hate people, especially young females.

And the millions of young women who don't engage in this sort of attention-seeking behavior? Do you hate them too? I'm not a shrink or a philosopher, but looking for the negative in individuals or groups instead of the positive doesn't sound like a recipe for happiness to me.

Maybe they just give away apples.

"An apple a day keeps the doctor away" is an expression that has been around for years and years. It has nothing to do with "fat shaming" or being "Fatphobic." Maybe they just had some extra apples that they wanted to get rid of, and put similar notes in other oreders as well. Sounds like someone is desperately seeking her 15 minutes of fame.

“An apple a day keeps the doctor away”

Hardly indicative of a “phobia” or even rudeness. Without more, it’s not even insulting to a person who can’t digest apples. What keeps the softness away? That’s what was needed.
