“””Then the company blanket party king
( a crazy masochist )
came up with that weeks barracks cleanliness competition award winning idea.
Remove the grates below the lockers to get at and polish the brass and copper piping under them.”””
As student platoon sergeant in AIT, I led us into a spectacular passing of the barracks inspection, when it was over and I prodded the inspecting sergeant to inspect even closer, he popped off the protective plate from the light switch and pointed out it was dirty inside, he taught me a lot about inspections.
“We spend a staggering amount of money on our military.
And this is what that money buys”
Don’t forget their officers jump out of multi million dollar air planes, over populated areas, because they get scared.
I don’t know about the barracks situation these days. Certainly, they weren’t that bad in any of the posts where I was stationed. I would love to know where these “unnamed” posts are.
Back in my youth, when I enlisted in the Navy, I lived in Army barracks for a while. These were old cement buildings and considered substandard, so I got about $4 extra pay each month. They weren’t dirty or dysfunctional, they were just old.
I have heard horror stories about military housing for families. A few years ago, a fellow officer described sewage backing up into her bathtub in her house on post. There were tracts of military family housing on that post that were abandoned, probably because of such problems.

I hope our military hasn’t fallen so low as to be “plagued” by squatters in their barracks. What about the tried and true “heave ho”, not to mention “beatdown”?
He also taught me the trick which I adopted of inspecting the toilets by wiping a finger under the rim and licking it to verify that the unseen portion was pristine.
Of course it was a different finger but it was impressive to the young troops, and made a valid point, look deeper, find the hard-to-see parts, see the details, and think about what you are doing, complete the entire task, close isn’t good enough.
Posting this I remember how much young men have to learn about attention to detail and how the Army used to focus their minds on the little things, cleaning the floor with toothbrushes, hand waxing barracks floors, daily buffing of the floors, gig-lines, Drill-Dergeants that can see what the typical 18 year old thinks is unseeable in his rifle, or gear, or in lining up his socks.
When civilians mock all this and marching, and order, I ask them to imagine leaving a box of hand grenades and loaded M-16s in the barracks of typical teenagers as an illustration of why all that drill is needed to make the troops aware of detail and responsibility, to make their young male minds think, and to see things clearly.
The military acknowledged they were pretty much successful in getting all the Caucasian patriots/war fighters out of the military.
What is left is left is just like that CMSAF Bass. She does nothing but revel in her position in the Air Force and spouts worthless platitudes while doing nothing other than destroying her Service. I directly had a written conversation with her on a Facebook group and equated her with that insipid Madeline Albright when Albright danced with Communists. Bass never replied again and has never written a single word on that forum since I confronted her.
Milley and the other Joint Chiefs are letting the military go to hell by spending money on CRT and Wokieness instead of repairing installations.
In the "old days" - before "don't ask, don't tell" and trannies in the military - the first sergeant ENSURED that the troops themselves kept the barracks clean, and any facilities problems were corrected by the Base Commander, or he was removed.
From an airplane that can't fly in bad/wet weather. WhoTH does that? America. that's who.
Q: What did Zerobama say about Irishmen?
A: "Ah, there's nothing like a Pat on the back!"
The barracks are full of aids and fag pox.
Wonder how that happened 😏
Money for everything but essentials.
Yeah, that has me puzzled too. I mean, if our armed forces can’t take out a bunch of squatters, how could they hope to survive Afghanistan?
Yes
When I served we were expected to keep our barracks (and later, our ship) clean and habitable. And squatters couldn’t get on base, let alone in barracks.
Sexual weirdos aren’t up to the job of running things in the US military? Solution - promote based ON MERIT only. NEVER on Kink, Kolor, or Kin (rich connected ‘daddy’)
This is nothing new. In 1992, upon arriving in Germany for my third tour the Bn CSM reamed my butt for inspecting my troops rooms. Why I retired when I did.
