We Drank the Anti-Woke Beer So You Don’t Have To
Politico ^ | 8/18/23 | Calder McHugh, Derek Robertson

Posted on 08/20/2023 3:23:30 AM PDT by Libloather

Take a spin through the conservative media ecosystem - or listen to most of the Republican presidential primary field - and you’ll learn one major takeaway: The “woke mind virus” has fully infected America’s largest corporations. A non-exhaustive list of companies that personalities on Fox News have derisively called “woke” over the last couple years - for reasons spanning featuring trans people in ad campaigns to running corporate DEI programs - includes Bud Light, Hershey’s, Pizza Hut, Walmart, Nike, Kaiser Permanente, Chick-Fil-A, the whole airline industry and the weapons manufacturer Lockheed Martin.

Naturally, conservative influencers are taking the opportunity to make a quick buck and a political statement (in the same way you might find liberals desperately trying to find bidders for their Ruth Bader Ginsburg Christmas ornaments). A slate of alternative “anti-woke” brands of chocolate, beer and other sundry goods you might normally buy at your local Target have proliferated across the internet in recent months to meet the boycotters’ needs. Jeremy Boreing, the co-founder of the conservative media company the Daily Wire, launched a skincare and razor brand and followed it up with “she/her” and “he/him” chocolates - you can guess which variety comes with nuts. Conservative influencer Seth Weathers got in on the action with the announcement of “Conservative Dad’s Ultra Right Beer,” a Bud Light alternative free of any ties to transgender influencers. “If you know which bathroom to use, you know what beer you should be drinking,” Weathers said.

But are these products actually good? And what does the rapid proliferation of this kind of product say about the cultural status of the right - and the state of corporate politics in America today? Only one way to find out.

Woke commies also have a language. Good to know.

How conservatives use ‘verbal jiu-jitsu’ to turn liberals’ language against them

𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥?

No. Generally they’re not. I didn’t drink Bud Light prior to all of this because it was piss water. I didn’t shop at Target prior to all of this because I felt the atmosphere inside the store was a little pretentious, and the prices seemed slightly high. I stopped going to Burger King not because of the Pride Whopper, but because post COVID it seems impossible to find one that’s either open before 8 a.m, or that has more than one employee working there. I liked their coffee, and I liked their has browns when done right. I’ve decided to make my current Ford my last Ford because the cars they put out now don’t interest me. I don’t buy Colt not because they decided to suspend manufacturing their AR-15s for an already saturated market, I don’t give them my business because I can’t find Colts products gun store shelves. I’ve also heard that Colt is kind of difficult to deal with if you’re an FFL. They’ve also stagnated when it comes to new products.

I’m starting to believe that some of what’s going on with these companies isn’t solely them going “woke”, but the woke part is the straw that breaks the camel’s back for a lot of people. Bud Light sucked long before some gay actor decided to pretend to be a “girl”. Bud Light has always been cheap, and prolific. Same with Target, never thought they were good, hated the inside of the store, only shopped there out of necessity, and back in 2012 I was further driven away by news of credit card info being breached at Target; long before the tucking swimsuit. Some of these companies may have just went full retard at the wrong time.

Light beer is glorified seltzer. Make mine a Guinness.

“I stopped going to Burger King not because of the Pride Whopper, but because post COVID it seems impossible to find one that’s either open before 8 a.m, or that has more than one employee working there.”

I have also experienced the same thing with the preferred BK I wanted to go to. My preferred branch opened just before Covid so the Covid lockdowns were a kick to the balls. Then when they “opened” it was drive through only. Now, they have decided to no longer open for breakfast or their dining area is open one day and closed the next, back and forth, back and forth.

“I don’t buy Colt not because they decided to suspend manufacturing their AR-15s for an already saturated market, I don’t give them my business because I can’t find Colts products gun store shelves.”

Possibly depends on what models. My local Cabelas has a Colt King Cobra 3” barrel for $989 out the door. Kentucky Gun Company has them for $899 out the door.

I was at a big bar and grill yesterday AM for a political breakfast.

Huge stack of Miller Lite cases.

Huge stack of Coor’s Lite cases.

Big stack of Mich Ultra cases.

Zero Bud Lite.

Strange that these companies are driving themselves into the ground, but the execs keep picking up fat salaries.

I suspect the execs are surrounded by butt-kissers, more worried about the next oil change on the jaguar, spending vacations in the Hamptons and hob-nobbing with other rich people... and completely out of touch with their consumers.

Just like Republicans.

Agreed.
At my age, I already pee enough. Light beer just puts it into overdrive.
My preferred beer these days is Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA.
But since I work at Coors and they give out 3 free cases per month, I'll do Killian's or Coors Banquet anytime.

Target is pretentious?

Maybe its because I’ve lived so long in San Francisco, but my impression of Target is distinctly declasse. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I am, after all, cheap.

Exactly. I just read an article that said there are no new cars that you can buy now less than $20,000. They are only producing SUVs and electric BS for the profit margins. I have the two cars I’m going to drive to my grave now, a 1999 Toyota Corolla (180,000 miles) and a 2008 Toyota Highlander (240,000 miles).Throw some repairs in here and there and they run great. I’ll pick up an old American truck in a few years produced when American vehicles were great. Unfortunately, I might end up being like Mad Max marauding to find gas in a few years though.

I think I have been to Gumps twice in @40 years, both times with my wife. Not that she’s that sort.

That CNN article says that it was "conservatives" that shifted the words "global warming" to "climate change." I disagree. True, the Left was catching flak over "global warming" for its unprovable doom and gloom to syphon public money and push to regulate...everything. And their hypocrisy by shifting their catestrophe from "the coming ice age" of the 60s and 70s to the "global warming" of the 90's and 00s. But I think the Left shifted term to "climate change" because then they can point to any "change" (slightly warmer, cooler, more humid, less humid, etc.) to prop up their alarmism.

What a smarmy article and as for the beer discussed (pictured below), I can't vouch for the beer itself but the packaging couldn't be more condescending.

Apparently it is a real beer.

This is something millenials might buy for their Dad as some sort of inside joke. No self-respecting man would drink out of a can that looks like this.

You hit it right on the nose. This is the true and perfect explanation of the way the enviromuffins played with the language. It wasn’t conservatives that did this.
