The owner of a Kia shot an accused car thief several times during a confrontation at a Texas apartment complex, San Antonio police told news outlets.
Officers responded to a 911 call from an apartment complex on the city’s northeast side at about 4 a.m. Aug. 10, police told KENS.
A resident spotted a man trying to break into his Kia, police told the station. The resident went outside, along with his girlfriend, to confront him, police told the outlet.
The accused thief ordered the man to bring him his car keys, which he had left in his apartment, police told KSAT.
The man told police that his girlfriend was being held at gunpoint, the outlet reported. Instead of getting his keys as the accused thief demanded, he grabbed a handgun, walked out onto his balcony and opened fire, police told the station.
Officers found the accused thief with three gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a hospital in critical condition, WOAI reported.
Police are investigating the incident, the outlet reported. It’s unclear if the Kia owner will be facing any charges.

4:00 a.m. from the balcony, under stress, girlfriend at risk. Not too shabby—he hit his target.
Between this and the article from yesterday regarding the wife shooting her husband’s attacker, I’m feeling a bit good about the “fight back” instincts still ingrained in a lot of our citizens.
Maybe he should find a practice range that has similar a set-up for him to practice at—all at 4:00 a.m. of course.
That threat of life means justifiable defense.
Good shooting hitting the perp 3 times at that distance.
If what is being reported is accurate then he should be legally OK in Texas.

You know that street punks don't study the law as much as they used to.
But then reading and math are both racist, so why bother?
Red Dot and a practiced hand is NOT a “potshot”.
The headline is written to make the law-abiding citizen look guilty.
“My understanding of Texas law is that you can use deadly force to stop theft of your property.”

At night.
Hitting him 3 times from the balcony while the criminal was holding the girlfriend at gunpoint, and the girlfriend was apparently not injured?
I’d say that’s some fine shooting.
I know I have problems with downward shots. I just never get to work on them.
It’s a little more complicated than that. But in this case the criminal was holding the girlfriend at gunpoint. So this was not a case of defense of property, but defense of a human life, which you can do at any time of day or night in Texas.
Situations like this are why God gave us rifles.
This action should be made legal in every red state
Don’t Mess With Texas
I remember in the 80’s in Austin the T-shirts were a big sell
” It’s unclear if the Kia owner will be RECEIVING AND COMMENDATIONS.”
The "car thief" became an Armed Robber the moment they threatened the owner.
Kia owner shoots accused car thief armed robber while standing on apartment balcony, Texas cops say.
While the owner hit his target with the handgun, once he was inside, he should have come to the balcony with his long arm.
Excellent shot to hit the target three times from a balcony. one more might have done the trick!
>No no… the Dems say he should sue Kia for making his car stealable.<
There ya go!
Hitting him 3 times from the balcony while the criminal was holding the girlfriend at gunpoint, and the girlfriend was apparently not injured?
I’d say that’s some fine shooting.
/\
I’d go even further and add that that level of precision shows a certain level of grace and mercy for not just shooting the peep once,, in the head.
Ha haa! That’s what I’ve always called it too!!
Guess he missed the girlfriend so yeah, hay man nice shot.
