REPORT: Bud Light Sales Still In Free Fall As Other Anheuser-Busch Beers Are Beginning To Feel The Sting
Daily Caller ^ | May 10, 2023 7:36 AM ET | COREY WALKER

Posted on 05/10/2023 5:43:27 AM PDT by Red Badger

Bud Light’s sales slump has seemingly started to impact other beverages under the Anheuser-Busch brand, according to reports.

Sales of Bud Light have fallen 23.4% compared to this time a year ago, according to The New York Post. The brand experienced a 21.4% drop in sales the week before, according to Bump Williams Data. Bud Light in-store sales have also reportedly dropped by over 26% in the week that ended April 22.

The backlash against Anheuser-Busch seems to be affecting beers outside of Bud Light.

Michelob Ultra, another successful beer brand under Anheuser-Busch, has seen their sales numbers erode in recent weeks, falling by 4.4%, according to Bump Williams Data.

Bump Williams claims that the company’s less prominent beer brands are also enduring sales slumps. Natural Light and Busch Light have both seen their sales numbers drop amid the Dylan Mulvaney backlash. Natural Light sales have declined 5.2% and Busch Light sales have declined 1.8%, according to Bump Williams.

Bud Light and Budweiser are the only beers in the U.S. top 10 that have dropped in sales, according to the New York Post.

“If Bud Light doesn’t fix its trend by the end of this month, it will continue to lose market share because it will lose Memorial Day. That kicks off the summer season,” Williams told New York Post, “There has to be a sense of urgency for InBev to correct these trends.”

Budweiser rivals have seen their sales numbers pickup amid the ongoing backlash after partnering with the transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Miller Lite and Coors Light have picked up in sales, according to Beer Business Daily.

The Bud Light problem is not so much the conscious boycott - people forget and move on. Their bigger problem is that their brand was popular with normal sporting event guys - the main group of beer drinkers. In a single stroke, they let a woke dingbat rebrand their product as the beer of gender-confused poofy freaks. Nobody normal wants to be seen buying or consuming their product. They don’t come back from that.

Wouldn’t drink any of the A-B light beers anyway. Drank some Michelob in the 70s & 80s, and it was decent beer. About the only A-B beer I enjoyed. Since I don’t drink at all now it doesn’t affect me one way or the other, but got to say I’m enjoying watching A-B go woke and go broke.

It has been labeled ‘Queer Beer’ and that will stick for decades.

If I were AB, I’d just discontinue the brand and rename it .....................

“how about Yuengling, America’s oldest brewery”

Oldest “privately owned” brewery. A slight distinction. My beer of choice at the moment. Use to drink Michelob Ultra. Not any more. I will do Shiner Bock now and then.

Me, too. Michelob was my go-to domestic beer. Until I went to Germany and found out what REAL beer is supposed to be!................

Nobody normal wants to be seen buying or consuming their product.

Yep, it's an ongoing conversation in groups of normal people everywhere. We found a Bud Light can on a table in our golf league, it caused quite the stir as we investigated who would have the nerve to be seen with a Bud Light :)

It shows how big their reach really is, doesn’t it?

Support all the mom n pops you can. The big guys are out to get them, and sometimes that means taking them over. I’m sure this list will continue to expand as AB-InBev buys up competitors.

“This is a hard time to be a non-beer-drinker”

Why? You’re not buying beer anyway so you are in effect protesting Bud Light or any Anheuser-Busch product.

These numbers aren’t in competition with other brands. The numbers indicate that Anheuser-Busch is crashing alone.

Competitive beer purchases are not part of that equation.

That is true, because even if we want to be part of the boycott, since we are not consumers, we are not part of that retaliation.

There are six corporations that make most of the beer/ale in the world. ABV is the largest(57 billion in sales). Followed by Heineken(38 B). Asahi(21 B). Kirin (15 B). Molson/Coors(10 B). Carlsburg (10 B)

https://www.zippia.com/advice/largest-beer-companies/

So, most of the major brands are made by one of the above. Some of the only privately family owned major beer companies sold throughout the US are Yuengling, Boston Beer(Sam Adams) and Sierra Nevada. Boston Beer does $2 Billion in sales. There are several other regional companies and hundreds/thousands of micro breweries.

“Anheuser-Busch (BUD) - is finding out in real time just how choppy the waters can get when corporations wade into the culture wars that are at the center of the social media conversation these days.

Bud Light has been America’s most popular beer for years, but now people on both sides of the political aisle are disavowing the drink.”

how about Yuengling, America’s oldest brewery

Upon news of AB’s trans debacle, my first thought was whether Yuengling was a public company.

It’s family-owned, sadly for me, but I hope they enjoy their enormous gains.

The other issue is, once the budlight drinkers wake up and realize that there is other beer out there that actually tastes good and doesn’t give you a migraine....... regardless of advertising campaign, people may never go back.
