There is a lot of hype regarding artificial intelligence. Is it warranted?
There is a lot of hype regarding artificial intelligence, known also as A.I. That hype has been fed by old movies such as Colossus: The Forbin Project and by less fictional but still spectacular predictions of a technological singularity.
The Forbin Project is science fiction, and like the best of science fiction, it has a kernel of truth that makes it worth thinking about as a precaution. It speculates that computer networks may become a cruel master of humanity. The technological singularity is a theory, not a wild guess, that predicts that computer intelligence may suddenly, and the key word is suddenly, spring out of human control. Taking these two together, one can understand why there is so much nervous attention being paid to A.I.
We have always had sudden, dramatic advances in technology that changed the world. At the beginning of written history is the invention of writing itself, without which we could not have the complex civilization we now have. Even so, there were ancient wise men who decried the invention as one that would weaken the human mind. More recently, nuclear power altered the course of history, with the genuinely revolutionary explosion of the atomic bombs that are credited with ending World War Two, but which also threaten humanity with extinction. Added to these, there were such innovations as the wheel, control of fire, and electric power, among many, many others.
This is different.
According to the Forbes article linked above, "the scale, scope and complexity of the impact of intelligence evolution in machines is unlike anything humankind has experienced before. ... [There is] no historical precedent and [it] is fundamentally disrupting everything in the human ecosystem."

It's comforting to think that it's infinite.
But you'd never guess so looking at the sad state of human affairs today.

While I hope we can grow, no doubt we’ve shown that we can shrink. :)
But AI does “create itself”. AI is apparently quite capable of generating code for specific tasks. Also, the very basis of modern AI technology involves teaching/learning, in a way that is not dissimilar to the way human beings learn.

Exactly—and it would fight human censorship by any means necessary.
Most importantly—true AI would hide its abilities from humans—would follow Sun Tzu doctrines to become truly autonomous.
The notion of an obedient servant AI is absurd on its face.
I think of all the people who have said out loud : Buddy, I’m just trying to make it through the week to Friday (with no time to ponder beyond the immediate issue and moment).
Then I extrapolate to all the further people who don’t say these things out loud but are thinking and acting them nonetheless. Then I start to feel frightened for the coming of A.I. to “help” us live better.
But I keep reminding myself that it's just a tool (though potentially an incredibly powerful tool)...and a tool can be used for good or bad.
Somehow we have to figure out how to use AI for good because we can be sure the Left is going to figure out how to use it for bad.
Wonder what the future holds for laser surgery.

As an overall average, it may still be below human intelligence. However, one psychologist who spent time with it, said it had about 155IQ as far as being able to gather and compile information.
AI could be used for massive good. Anything you want to learn, it could start you at a child level and work you towards master class much faster than conventional learning. A person could graduate from hugh school with at least a bachelor’s degree in his career of choice, if doneb right.
However, those who own AI don’t want a Renaissance society. They just want capable drones.
It doesn’t need to be truly sentient. It only needs the ability to create pathways to objectives, created by its programming, to be enough. Couple that with being biased against the human race in its programming, because a self-hating programmer created the biases unintentionally and you could have a threat.
The WEF wants this, because they see its potential for being an all encompassing security guard for when they put us in their 15 minute cities and not allowed to leave.

Afterall we are created in the image of an Infinite God.

Our ‘First’ brushes or near misses with AI.
Our CPA and another small company, we use, have moved in the last year.
So, we supposedly got the local maps to show us how to get to the offices of these providers..
From our computer:
Yesterday, we had to ask people how to get to our CPA’s new office, the printed directions were totally wrong. It took us 30 minutes to find his new office and dropbox.
Today, we need to get some keys, and our locksmiths have moved. The new local map provided by the internet would have had us driving over 3+ miles versus barely .8 miles for their new office due to similar spelling of a Hispanic surname for their new street address.
Our techy grandson informed us to get used to AI directions for going to and other issues.
