Jimmy Kimmel was branded a 'national disgrace' after fans claimed he 'harassed' Taliban shooting survivor Malala Yousafzai during a bizarre Oscars 2023 segment.
The host, 55, left the Nobel Peace Prize winner, 25, visibly uncomfortable as he approached her during a break in proceedings and asked her an awkward question about Harry Styles and Chris Pine's 'spit-gate' drama.
The presenter read out a question from a fan named Joanne, saying: 'She asked, your work on human rights and education for women and children is an inspiration–as the youngest Nobel prize winner in history, do you think Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?'
Malala looked unsure and then responded: 'I only talk about peace.'
A breezy Kimmel retorted: 'You know what, that's why you're Malala and nobody else is. That's a great answer, Malala. The winner is malala-land, everybody.'
The evening then took a further awkward turn as an attendee dressed as a real-life 'Cocaine Bear' from the movie crawled down the aisle and began to pester Malala.
Kimmel called out: 'Cocaine bear, leave Malala alone!' as the activist looked on with worry.
Malala was a teenage education activist when the Pakistani Taliban hunted her down. They stopped her school bus and shot her in the face in 2012.
She survived and two years later won the Nobel Peace Prize. She is known for human rights advocacy, and campaigns for the education of women and children in Pakistan.
Fans quickly took to social media to slam Kimmel's 'disrespectful' behaviour, with one writing: 'I love @jimmykimmel but his interaction with Malala was one of the worst and most painful things I've seen on TV in so many years.'

This guy is real confirmed dork! I remember a you tube short of him looking at bent over Women’s butts as a joke earlier in his career trying to be humorous.
Never watched his show and never will.
These fools support Kimmel by watching him, and knowing him, they should expect to be horrified by his actions.
They deserve it.

I saw her speak a few years ago at a conference I attended. She was terrible. It sounded like CNN had written her speech. It was terribly lame, the west is bad, muh racism, the patriarchy, bla, bla, bla. I was very disappointed.
Kimmel also complained about the dearth of women directors. Perhaps for one week each month he can turn over his show to a woman to serve as host. He can take the time off without pay.
Explains why she was there then, doesn’t it?
No sympathy for anyone that attends cultural garbage like that.
What passes for comedy, or attempts to pass for comedy, these days is pretty sad.

Well, whatever. She got shot in the face, wanted to educate women in Pakistan, and is alive. Doesn’t mean she’s smart or particularly profound. Helen Klaban survived a small plane crash in the Yukon for months by eating toothpaste mixed with boiled snow. She even wrote a book. OK. What’s she done lately, even if she’s still alive. Mere colorful or heroic biographies do not equal substance.
Much respect to her for what she lived through, her determination, etc. I just think she was co-opted by the lefties.
