The Climate Case for Rationing
New Republic ^ | March 3, 2023 | by Kate Aronoff

Rationing today is seen as a sign that things have gone very wrong. In HBO’s The Last of Us—where humanity has been decimated by a fungal infection that turns people into violent meat sacs—quarantine zone residents swap ration cards for shoelaces and trade them on the black market for drugs. In the real world, meanwhile, produce is being rationed in the UK amid a whopping 17 percent rise in grocery prices, seen by many as a failure of government planning.

But rationing, when needed, hasn’t always gotten such a bad rap. Sometimes people have even supported it, even after largely declining to reduce their consumption of key goods voluntarily.

Now a new paper proposes rationing as one policy option to deal with another less-than-ideal situation: the climate crisis. Authors Nathan Wood, Rob Lawlor, and Josie Freear don’t lay out a plan for carbon rationing or even make the case that governments should do such a thing. They argue, rather, that it can be “considered as a policy that would be implemented as part of a broader pluralistic response to climate change.” They see rationing as likely a question of how—not if.

Price controls are an essential complement to rationing so as to “keep key resources affordable for the majority of people, including the poor.” Traditionally rationing systems have meant goods are bought with both ration cards and cash, creating a dual currency system. Price controls help insulate the remaining money economy from the haywire laws of supply and demand. Together, rationing and price controls, the authors explain, “give you an option you simply will not have under other policies: the option to buy goods at a price which is not determined by the market, and which is significantly cheaper than it would be if left to the market.”

There is no climate crisis.

I cordially invite those proposing rationing to go first. Show us how its done - starting particularly with the wealthy who advocate this. Reduce your standard of living dramatically.

Then we can talk.

“The Climate Case for Rationing”

I’m CONVINCED this is one of the main reasons for wanting the Ukraine War, as the end game is taking out the Russian government and replacing it with a US puppet (as all of Europe is now), and then taking out the Chinese government and doing the same.

The reason I’m convinced of this is because it will be IMPOSSIBLE to impose any of this climate shit on either Russia or China, as long as they are free to make their own decisions...that simple. And if the West goes it alone with its 12% or so of the world’s population, the 88%, which still has heating and cars, will simply LAUGH AT US.

So the question now is how important is this to the Biden Administration (and the Ukraine Cheerleaders for that matter)? Is it REALLY world WW3 to achieve this goal? Because neither Russia nor China is about to go down and become slaves to us without first setting off a few firecrackers over US cities.

Communist Socialist creeps looooove to ration. For decades in Nicaragua the farmers and ranchers would bring their crops to the Farmers Markets. In small towns and large cities farmers brought their products to sell and barter. There was more than enough. They day after the commies took power, No Farmers Markets were allowed. All of the food was now classified as the ‘people’s’ food. Rationing came soon after. Anyone caught with more than their allotment was labeled as a hoarder, keeping food from women, children, and the elderly (sound familiar?). Farmers who tried to store their crops for lean years were jailed.

Never let a crisis go to waste.

If there is no crisis, create one.

Climate crisis is a creation of the radical left, which will get its way one way or another.

When a crisis is created out of thin air, then, there is absolutely no crisis.

Livestock.
We are livestock to these people, to be managed, herded and harvested.

The Globalists want to obliterate the nation state. They do all they can to wipe out borders, to strengthen the UN against national governments, to get national governments to give up their sovereignty, etc. Russia and China are huge impediments to this. They aren't about to go along with any of the Davos set's desires. They very much believe in national sovereignty. I think that's a big part of why the Globalists and the Neocons are on the same team. To that end, the Globalists' failure to break Russia is good for all of us.

The rationale for rationing is to take advantage of scarcity as a tool to control consumption. All this consuming means the population of any one region may in fact have what is recognized as a higher standard of living and greater prosperity, which creates jealousies in surrounding region where consumption is restricted.

Jealousy and envy between regions is what brings on war, and war creates its own form of rationing, by destroying whatever surpluses have been built up. So, why not ration up front and PREVENT the war?

To state the proposition is to demonstrate its absurdity.

“To that end, the Globalists’ failure to break Russia is good for all of us.”

Agree on that. People LAUGH at Putin when he says he’s fighting the Globalists for us (and for Russia, of course), but then ask yourself, if not Putin, then who, exactly, is fighting them?

One answer would be Trump...but the Republicans took him out in the 2020 election by letting the Democrats CHEAT their way to victory. So who else, Ted Cruz? Get serious, he’s pissed because we won’t send F-16s to Ukraine.

I agree with all of this. Thing is, why do these people think that getting rid of Putin means they replace him with their chosen puppet? It stands to figure an even more hardline person than Putin (who is not a communist and considered rather moderate), would fill the leader position. Starting a color revolution in China and Russia has to be almost impossible with Putin and Xi at the helm, so war it is. Weaken Putin and his military to try and open the door to the imposition of the Global Order.

They really do want a revolt.
And they are doing a d*mned good job of making it happen.
And we will be ready to surround each and every home of ther politicians to make sure that THEY COMPLY with any of their silly rules. We’ll see how long they can keep it up.

And they can forget about coming out of their houses.

Ever.

“Thing is, why do these people think that getting rid of Putin means they replace him with their chosen puppet?”

That’s simply the Alinsky Tactics used by the Media and Governments working on the masses, as it is FAR EASIER to get people mad at a person, than it is to get them mad at a country that never did anything to them, or the US.

Works every time, even here!

Aren’t they made in DFW? He’s protecting his political base.

Not that I’m in favor of giving them to Ukraine, mind you.
