Republican voters favor DeSantis over Trump in new poll (64% - 36%)
NBC News ^ | 01/26/2023 | Alexandra Marquez

In a hypothetical presidential matchup, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis would garner more support against President Joe Biden than former President Donald Trump would, a new poll from Marquette University finds.

Forty-five percent of registered voters preferred DeSantis, versus 38% of registered voters who preferred Biden in a hypothetical matchup between the two.

In a hypothetical contest between Biden and Trump, the two were even, each gaining 40% of registered voters' preference.

Just among Republican voters and independents who lean Republican, DeSantis had a slightly higher favorability rating. Seventy-one percent of those voters said they have a favorable view of DeSantis, while 70% said they had a favorable view of Trump.

Among that same group of voters, ten percent said they had an unfavorable view of DeSantis while 28% had an unfavorable view of Trump.

Republican voters and Republican-leaning independent voters also preferred DeSantis as the eventual Republican presidential nominee over Trump by 28 percentage points, as 64% of this group of voters preferred DeSantis as the nominee, compared to 36% who said they preferred Trump to be the nominee.

Can’t wait for the debates. Remember 2016

Same here.

I can't wait for them either, especially the debates between Trump and DeSantis.

It'll probably come as a shock to Trump that it isn't 2016 anymore. He's no longer the political outsider who chewed up and spit out a bunch of lightweights.

He now has a record to defend and campaign tactics that people like Ron DeSantis have learned from.

If Desantis is lucky Trump will take the bait again like 2020 and get in a 1-on-1 fight with the moderator.

From five days ago:

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3821109-trump-is-heavy-favorite-in-gop-2024-primary-poll/

In a hypothetical eight-way primary, 48 percent of Republican voters said they would back Trump for the nod, while 28 percent would support DeSantis. While that’s good news for Trump, DeSantis saw a 3-point bump in support since last month.

I don’t expect Ron to show up. There’s no need for him to ruin his career on a losing venture.

From yesterday:

https://www.breitbart.com/2024-election/2023/01/25/poll-trump-towers-over-potential-gop-primary-field-with-35-point-lead/

Former President Donald Trump holds a whopping 35-point lead over the rest of the potential 2024 Republican primary field, according to a poll.

The Premise Data poll conducted between January 19-23 found that 59 percent of U.S. adult participants who view themselves as Republicans back Trump in his bid for the GOP presidential nomination, more than doubling the support of his nearest competitor, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), at 24 percent.

No other potential candidate reached double-digit support. Former Vice President Mike Pence landed in third place at eight percent, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley with two percent of the response each. One percent of poll participants back Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).

The other polls and common senses show this “poll” is BS.

Well, I hope you guys have fun trying to get anyone elected without Trump supporters.

Governor Brian Kemp did just fine, even after Trump endorsed Stacey Abrams.

I’m guessing his re-election victory was due in part to more than a few Trump supporters.

"Republicans need independent voters to win elections."

Are we to believe that 50.1% of voters are happy with the current condition and trend in America?....Not to mention Biden's personal incompetence....?

Before picking up your pom poms for DeSantis and buying the T-shirt, you might be interested to know that Marquette is a college hack poll and not even on the radar for accuracy ...

Meaningless poll. DeSantis is not running in 2024.

This is media’s attempt to start a fight between GOP leaders.

I saw the headline for another poll today that showed Trump up 36%, so take poll results with a big grain of salt.

Also, take notice of my Tagline.

Oh, he'll show up. I'm sure Governor DeSantis will have something to say about President Trump handing over the country to Dr. Fauci during his last year in office.
