Several of the ancient Egyptian branding-irons — actually made of bronze — were too small for large animals like cattle and were probably used to brand human slaves.© The Trustees of the British Museum; (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)
With all the tattooing and implants and piercing their I don’t what’s, I’m surprised self-branding hasn’t caught on as a fashion trend amongst the youth of today.
Okay, I’ll admit that I’m a bit confused here. Egyptians branding their slaves was something that was a fact back when I was in school and learning history of different cultures. When did that information disappear and why is it just now being rediscovered?
Now the government just gives you a social security number to enslave you to the tax system
Zahi “Zowie” Hawass has been claiming for years that there was no slavery in ancient Egypt, and Egyptologists who don’t play ball don’t work in Egypt.
I probably had an ancestor back there somewhere. Where do I get my reparations? /s
I think Chuck Conners lived one of his past lives there...

Youth fashion, yeah, good one. :^)
6000 slaves, all kids and young adults, were worked to death building an Egyptian city.
it disappeared when Egypt started to pretend there were never (jewish) slaves, but (from wiki) RamsesIII said of captured foreigners (Meditteranians and Sea Peoples), “ I imprisoned their leaders in fortresses bearing my name, and I added to them chief archers and tribal chiefs, branded and enslaved, tattooed with my name, their wives and children being treated in the same way.”[8]”
Are you serious? He is claming that?
Btw, I would clarify...its obvious from what we are learning is that the craftsmen/artisan class in ancient Egypt had way more influence in building than previously understood. That does not mean that slave labor was not employed.
There are some black college fraternities that brand their members even today.
WOW ,I thought America was the only ones who had slaves. At least that’s what has been pounded into my head for the last 40 years.
Hawass is a disgrace to the field. I notice that his on camera time has diminished greatly in the last 4 years. Good.
There are those in academia who see ancient Egypt as a sort of Wakanda-on-the-Nile, an Advanced Civilization run by Africans which gave culture and technology to the European barbarians. The idea of them owning slaves would be unthinkable.
