The man convicted of killing John Lennon more than four decades ago is up for parole for a 12th time.
Mark David Chapman, 67, pleaded guilty to shooting Lennon as the Beatles icon returned to his Manhattan apartment building in December 1980.
He was first eligible for parole in 2000 — and has previously been denied release 11 times.
Chapman — an inmate at the Wende Correctional Facility in upstate New York — was a 25-year-old religious fanatic when he traveled from Hawaii to New York City armed with a .38 Special handgun, 14 hours of Beatles recordings, and a copy of J.D. Salinger’s novel “The Catcher in the Rye.”
A former fan of the legendary rock band, Chapman was reportedly angered by Lennon’s claim that the band was “more popular than Jesus.”

Hinkle is out with orders to get Trump. If he fails then dems have Chapman to follow orders.
The killing wasn't any different than what's going on in Chicago.
Victims are routinely allowed to express their views to parole boards
Yoko wants him in the can. He ain’t getting out.
I wonder how he felt when jody foster came out as a lesbian?
Is “Imagine” the favorite song of this assassin?
(See what I did there? I know you do.)
I thought he was already out of prison.
Maybe I’m thinking of the man who shot Ronald Reagan.
Imagine. I hate that song.
Every time I see the movie THE TIME MACHINE I see the Eloi sitting around with nothing to do but sing that song or Kumbaya, waiting for the Morlocks come calling.
Nobody asked me directly, but I think its time to let both this guy and Sirhan-Sirhan out.
I’m sure Ethel feels differently
Hard to believe some baby boomer/lifer hasn’t carved Chapman’s heart out with a spork by now.
That doesn’t sound very woke to me.

It’s nonsense. He was a paranoid schizophrenic. He claimed to hear voices and see “little people” who crawled out of the walls, which are classic schizophrenic type of delusions.
As for objecting to the “bigger than Jesus” comment, he was probably a small child when that happened. Sounds like a post hoc excuse to me. Like a lot of other criminals, he may have feigned a religious conversion to attempt to present himself as reformed and curry favor with the review board or something like that. Or maybe he did have some strong religious beliefs, but they surely would have been warped by whatever mental delusions he was suffering.
I forget which comedian it was, but they made that an argument against the existence of God. “Six bullets. She’s right frickin there! Not a scratch!”
He was delusional. He thought he was the “real” John Lennon, and the “fake” John Lennon had to die.

I just figured it was the press trying to denigrate religious folks
