Biden Is Politically Dead, and Yet He Still Beats Donald Trump in the Polls (Barf alert)
National Review ^ | 12th July 2022 | CHARLES C. W. COOKE

Posted on 07/12/2022 7:49:57 AM PDT by Ennis85

On the homepage today, Rich writes that “for the good of the country, Biden shouldn’t run again.”

The same is true of Donald Trump.

In my view, there are many, many reasons for this — not least that Trump permanently disqualified himself from consideration with his behavior after the 2020 election. But, whether or not you agree with me about that, you can surely grasp that, as a political matter, Donald Trump is a spent force?

Yesterday’s New York Times poll sent shockwaves through the political world. It found that President Biden’s approval rating is at 33 percent; that “more than two-thirds of independents also now disapprove of the president’s performance”; that “more than three-quarters of registered voters see the United States moving in the wrong direction”; that “only 13 percent of American voters said the nation was on the right track”; and that “94 percent of Democrats under the age of 30 said they would prefer a different presidential nominee.” This is disastrous.

And yet:

One glimmer of good news for Mr. Biden is that the survey showed him with a narrow edge in a hypothetical rematch in 2024 with former President Donald J. Trump: 44 percent to 41 percent.

That’s right. Joe Biden is on political death row. And yet, in the same poll that has delivered his death warrant, he still beats Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup. If Republican primary voters look at this information and decide to nominate Trump again anyway, they will have nobody to blame for the consequences but themselves.

Not to mention trumps approval ratings this far in where double digits higher.

Trump’s approval was also around the same as Obama’s before he was re-elected in 2012, the polls showing country moving in the right direction was also decent even in the midst of COVID. Everything pointed to Trump being re-elected even by a tight margin yet Biden who didn’t draw any kind of crowd won by higher than Obama even with blacks.

Drop boxes and mail in ballots are riddled with fraud. Recounts don’t mean shit if the ballots being filled out are not traceable to real people and signatures are not checked or dates on the envelopes. Voter rolls not purged so on and so on.

He doesn’t look pot-bellied in photos. He must hide it well.

Cooke would have been 12 years old, that year. You sure you aren’t thinking of someone else?

Maybe Kooke should spend more time at Trump rallies and far less time perusing NY Slimes polls.

Right before that, Kooke cited his boss Rich Lowry.

Why have an (s)election then, when the entire country can have 849 registered voters selected by the leftists make the decision?

The Babylon Bee gets more things right in their parodies than NRO when they are being serious. NRO is a prime example of what happens to conservatives when they sell their souls to the Republican Party establishment. They promise you the sun, moon and the stars and when push comes to shove like when Trump actually enacted conservative polices they clutched their pearls and screamed bloody murder. The NRO and GOP are perfect for each other, corrupt, for sale and full of crapola.

Good to hear . . . Western New Yorkers are sticking up for “one of their homegrown boys” even if from all the way across the Empire State.

Besides, such displays drive the demonkraps into a rage ... what a nice side benefit.

and Biden’s is the worst ever yet Trump not up by double digits in any of those polls?

First, let's throw out the old adage that most polls oversample Democrats, thus are biased by a few points in the Dem's favor. (How true that really is, I'll leave up to the polling nerds who read the internals.)

Second, you have to remember that the vast majority of people get their "news" from MSM sources and Social Media, all of which waged (and is still waging) a four-year smear campaign against Trump, with nary a bad word about Biden. Russia!, Russia!, Russia!, two impeachments, the Jan 6th hearings, etc., etc.

It's almost a miracle that Trump is up at all given all of that artificial headwind thrown against him.

What do you expect them to say?

The truth?

Everybody knows that Joe is done. The Dems are busy contemplating how to rid themselves of Joe, but Kamala does not make it easier for them. What a wonderful dilemma the Dems created for themselves.

They will never admit that the Dems in general appear to be in dire trouble across the board. So they push phony polls about Trump & DeSantis. They are trying to shield as many Dems running in this cycle from Joe.

The divorce has begun. You know its official when the media covers Hunter’s escapades.

All the same, I do not want anybody on our side to let up or rest on their laurels. Always act as if you are 10 points down.

The New York Times published an article on November 2, 2020 (one day before the November 3, 2020 general election) that listed a number of national polls. The New York Times concluded that Joe Biden beats Trump by 8 points. According to Wikipedia the national popular vote gap ended up 4.4% (Biden 51.3%, Trump 46.9%). So the New York Times have a tendency to favor Democrats by 4% in either their national polls or their analysis of national polls. If the New York Times say Biden is leading Trump 44% to 41%, I think the real gap is Trump leading Biden by 1%. A rematch would still be close if the election was held today.

I've heard the Bee was going to buy NR, but they decided against it....

They are both satire publications...🤓

WFB would be rolling over in his grave if he knew what NR became...
