Trump’s awesome tariffs on Chinese imports lifted by the idiot-in-chief with China Mitch’s help.

‘Dow and the Nasdaq are still way higher than they were in 2017, 18, 19, 20.’

They are ... until they’re not

Dow and the Nasdaq are still way higher than they were in 2017, 18, 19, 20 As the expense of accelerating the devaluing of the dollar and most all bond fund investments. Yeah, swell. FJB!

Having traded for decades, just making an observation that always amuses me when people start going nuts when the market is down 500 or 1000, but were whooping it up all giddy when it hit that level earlier, sometimes just months before.

Sure, just like for the President before that, etc. So is the debt. All of this debt has merely propped up the game. Joe got a bad hand, the next President will have a worse one.

Much of the inflation was always gonna happen. Oil got gut punched for two years, its time they recover their prices. Any shareholder would want that. China lock downs will end, just as the russia and ukraine gimmick.

I hope the SoyCucks are happy.

These are the sorts of people that cannot reflect honestly on their past actions and consider them mistakes. They surely are sitting back and saying to themselves "well at least we don't have concentration camps like Trump would have built! We were right!"

Did the same in Feb, took out half and bought a house. Feel at least now that I am only losing 1/2 as much. But had the question pop in my head just yesterday can you lose 100% of your investments?

True.

Although if we keep having these 1000-point daily drops, it could spell big trouble ahead (and a good buying opportunity for some -- I've got my 20-something kids into the market and keep reminding them a sell-off is actually good news for them).

* Since Ukraine, rubble doing better than the dollar - soon to NOT be the reserve currency.
* No Southern Border - allowing potentially millions to cross illegally.
* Untold number of Afghan trojan horses imported to the US
* Untold number of Americans left behind in Afghanistan in 2021
* Political prisoners still being held
* Any political opponent now called extremist
* Untold number dead due to an experimental inoculation
* Proposing a “Ministry of Truth”
* President who can’t string a sentence together
* Then there’s that laptop of his son.
* No response to thousands of crimes where with no local enforcement
* Food processing centers under attack.
* And now, direct threats to Supreme Court Justices.

... there’s my contribution. I’m sure folks can come up with more.

that’s my $0.02

Obviously you are right, it's still ahead. for now. But I wonder what a chart would look like adjusted for inflation? Still ahead but closer for sure. Give it a couple of years of double digit inflation - which is coming - and it's ugly.

Side note: I have 10 20 years until retirement.

Down is not necessarily bad especially today with ways to play that with things like reverse ETF’s where the average retail trader can make bets up or down on stocks, bonds, interest rates, oil, etc. I made a ton when the markets were cratering due to covid lockdowns and then reversed and caught the up side too.
