In 2020, the video-sharing platform was ranked No. 7 while Google came in at No. 1. This year, TikTok came in first, followed by Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Apple, in that order. Cloudflare's 2020 and 2021 rankings don't offer a perfect comparison; Cloudflare Radar, which compiles this information, only launched in September of 2020, so last year's rankings accounted for just a few months.
Regardless, Google is well aware of TikTok's dominance. The site has been looking to become increasingly focused on video and audio as the internet moves away from content people can read and toward content people can see or hear. Platforms like TikTok, Instagram and podcasts have largely led that shift.
TikTok's popularity also shows just how much people trust it. Google has long been a go-to for fact-checking information, but people may be increasingly willing to take people's word on TikTok without conducting any outside verification. The platform has added some measures to stop the spread of potentially misleading content, like adding banners on unverified TikToks and fact-checking content that users flag.

Twitter and Facebook are the worst. Most MAGA posters stay under the radar on TikTok so usually you can post as many short videos you want as long as your dog not become too famous.
Should read *as long as you do not become too famous.
There’s a lot of people who find it amusing to add music to a video of them dancing, cooking, trying different clothes, etc.
There might also be issues with Twitter, YouTube and Facebook censoring themselves out of business. TikTok is one of the alternatives, along with Parler, Gettr and Rumble.
They still have the rudimentary knowledge. Future generations can discard that when AI becomes fully voice recognition and voice commands.
Given TikTok is from a communist company in a communist dominated country ...
Oh wait...
Yeah, they're about on par with communist dominated Twatter and blowtube in crushing the truth.
How is Tik Tok fundamentally different from You Tube?
Bookstores are WWWAAAAYYYY down the list.
I think when they started out it was a 15 second max time limit. Then they went to 60 secs, and now it’s 3 minutes.
Tik tok is where the rejects from you to YouTube go?
Wasn’t this one of the apps that was banned from the USA (By Trump)?
“To be fair to the yutes, today everything is done on a phone instead of a desktop/laptop or desktop.
It’s very hard to read more than a sentence or two on a phone’s small screen, so of course videos and audios will be more popular.”
Many of our older female relatives, 80 plus or minus 40 years, are also using smartphones or some type of pad versus a real laptop more and more.
A female sibling and my wife are/were great readers and writers. Arthritis and other cumulative hand injuries have basically forced them into using voice chrome commands when preparing, setting up or using electronic data.
That has spread over to the use of voice commands to find tv shows and setting them up to watch, explore or repeat.
They use Alexa, Google and other voice driven programs all day versus typing in commands.
My wife uses her smart phone, tablets, Kindles and a small Chromebook basically by voice commands.
This sibling and my wife read 2-4 Kindle books a week.
So far they have not really started with electric voice/book recordings versus actual reading.
For folks without the attention span to get through a YouTube video.
tictok, IMHO, is garbage. But the fact it is beating google, more garbage, is heartening.
Boycott anything Chinese and end all Chinese immigration into the US. Save our civilization from the parasites from the east.
Awesome!
Funny, that bit from BNW was the first thing I thought of when I watched the first few minutes of Zuck's spiel on the Metaverse.
An entire generation that will jack themselves in, put on the helmet, grab the knobs, sit in the haptic chair, and orgasm themselves into a puddle.
I could watch kookaburras, king parrots, galahs and sulphur crested cockatoos all day :)
Lots of competition for zero.
