I used to visit this forum years ago and I recently felt impressed that I should come back and share some info.
I am a software engineer by trade. I write code. I've worked for many big tech companies over the years. Last year I worked for a well known big tech company on a year long contract. I worked on the software that searches all social media platforms and collects the data on you.
Facebook, Twitter, et all, have back doors called APIs that allow authorized entities to request data. And that data is then packed up and sent to the requestor. This is done using the Elastic Search technology. And I don't mean a little data, I mean all of it, terabytes worth.
If you post a message about your dream vacation to Detroit, it's scanned. If words in your post match the criteria they are looking for, all your info is packed and passed to the requestor.It gets worse. The technology is now available to scan photos and pick out images that match as well. If you post a picture that has some where in the image, let's say a logo on your shirt, the software can find it. I haven't been on Facebook in a year and I deleted my account. I asked my boss if he was "ok" with what we were doing. He said to me, "Look, I just keep my head down, it's a job."
This is not hear-say. I was a SDET or Software Developer in Test. It was my job to write automation code that tested the search algorithm. In other words, if 50k people "Liked" a video or an image, that we would get back all that data as expected.
Part of that testing was posting images FB, Twitter, etc, that contained an item. Then making sure the code found that item, the image was flagged and the data on it was returned to me as expected. So if you have a picture that contains a Christian cross some where in the image and they want to put you on a list, they can find it that quick. Or anything else they want to find.
Stay off social media platforms. I deleted all my accounts, you should too.

My parrots depend on Amazon as well.
The mix I use has seeds, pellets, dried vegetables & fruits, greens, extra vitamins added, & all sorts of other good stuff. It’s a far, far cry from the ordinary seed most people think of.
And you’re 100% right about them wanting what’s on the plate! Mine stands there giving me the stink-eye until he sees toast crumbs or biscuit crumbs fall off my plate. Then he’s in hog heaven. He also pecks at the inside of a banana peel & gets a potassium fix. :-)

True. I ordered my wife not to post anything with my picture in it on her feed. You know Filipinos and social media. They take a dump and they post it on social media. Well she didn’t listen. I got a message from Facebook that they found photos of me using their image scanning algorithm. They wanted me to tag myself. She went ballistic and didn’t see what’s my problem with Facebook or Biden or China, and said stop with your conspiracy theories. She also thinks I’m lying about the complete Indian domination of the software industry in the US, as Indians are such fine folk in the Philippines (if money lenders/ loan sharks could be considered fine folks). She and all her relatives unfriended me including my kids, me.
Facebook is a powerful drug in the Philippines.
Also if you have face to face discussions with anyone about the current political situation you should put your phone in your car. Even turning it off won’t shut off the microphone. Try this experiment...put your phone (leave the phone turned in) on the table between two people. Start talking about some product you have not discussed ever like a new stuffed animal or maybe a set of tools. See if next time you go online you don’t suddenly see ads for the items you discussed. In fact I expect to see ads for stuffed animals this evening. Your phone spies on you all the time!

Not really. It’s like if Sears was all woke in the beginning of the 20th century. They were so good at what they did, and completely dominated mail order, that was it.
No way in hell will I go back to 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Scary thought. Since all the grocery stores chains and all the big box stores are going woke, what’s are options? Considering in some areas, 70% of small businesses ceased operations due to covid-19 (and they typically were always 10 to 50% higher in price for most things)
I never saw more crybabies warning about this or that and being terrified instead of being armed and organizing.
OH WAIT!! The big bad scanner in the sky is gonna get all these words and come take me tonight.
I guess that is a possibility given I had no idea how many cowards were on our side.

Data harvesting to cancel conservatives. Starts with making a living. They are already doing it to President T. and his people. Listen to some of The Usurper’s people. They are telegraphing. Not a joke.
I think it is tme to turn fr into a private club and not out in the public eye.

Other than here I’m never on any social media. Nobody in their right mind puts their life on the internet.

Not for putting my life in the internet, but unless you totally isolate or go back to extremely expensive voice phone calls, you are isolated.
Even businesses don’t use email anymore, except for the most official of business that they need a paper trail to. It’s all slack, WhatsApp, Google Meet, Zoom etc.
