Hurricanes are often assigned unsuitable names. Katrina, Camille, Josephine, Eloise, Fabian…Noel (my name, for heaven’s sake) wrought much havoc; some have even been forced into ignominious retirement, essentially thrown onto the stormy scrap heap of history. Why are such noble names doomed to live in hurricane infamy when there are plenty of other more menacing monikers available?
The World Metrological Association keeps six lists of 21 male and female names that are rotated every six years, and they are overweighed with uncommon, yet pleasant names that hardly promote the kind of “run for your lives” mindset hurricanes often warrant. However, there are plenty of names that do instill a sense of foreboding.
Kamala, Bernie, Nancy, and AOC would all capture the dark side of nature better than Josephine or Noel, but none are on the lists the WMA maintains for the North Atlantic storms.

Personally, I’d start with “Antfa” & “BLM”, emblematic of deranged destruction and chaos!
Followed by communist and democrat...

The NHC in the hurdat2 database does have something along those lines you suggest.

H2021A for the first (H = hurricane) (year) (What order did it appear). Then H2021B, and so on.
The actual names have always been pretty stupid.

The practice of naming hurricanes solely after women came to an end in 1978 when men’s and women’s names were included in the Eastern North Pacific storm lists. In 1979, male and female names were included in lists for the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.
And now you have the Weather Channel naming winter storms as well.

Its time to start reining in the naming of storms, period. A tropical storm heading toward Portugal should not be named by the US Weather Service. In fact, a good number of the storms now named are so far removed from the US to be nothing but a charade. There is a measurement called the ACE (Accumulated cyclone energy). It roughly measures the power of storms. In 1933 the ACE was 258 with 20 named storms. So far this year, we have 23 NAMED storms with an ACE of 105.* Clearly every rotation is being named. Also consider that in 1933 there were NO satallites to record storms in the middle of nowhere. So, IMO aside from giving the weather/climate change mavens something to blare out, there is no reason to name every cloud bank.

Anyway, by giving names to these storms we give them male or female attributes, thus triggering offense. Better to use a system similar to what you propose.
These days every time two clouds bump together it gets a name...redicoulous
