I was in the Portland area, Hillsboro, in mid February and it was beautiful. Took a drive on US27 to Cannon Beach and the drive was beautiful(it was actually sunny), and all the people were nice. The only thing that was negative were the gas prices.

The I-5 corridor dictates policy for the state. Plus Seattle, San Francisco and Seattle are all trying to out crazy one another right now.
This is cheap gas for us. Well except for the coast. Just remember somebody pump your gas here. So the cost of labor is added to the cost of gas.
Much of Oregon is sane with many conservative patriots, it’s just the loudest, most obnoxious tri-county insane area around Portland and Eugene.
The city of Portland is a gray skied hole. If you like purple haired homeless kids, you’ll love downtown Portland. The rest of the state - the red part- is ok.
I’m sure there are conservatives in eastern Oregon like up here in the Sierras of California that are ready to fight. Right? Can I get a witness?

The Coast isn’t completely lost.
There is a dearth of lithium in the soil. The long term residents in Oregon and Washington state eventually go crazy.
Eugene is hippieland. So is Bellingham.
Years ago both Oregon and Washington were relatively mixed politically. The Californians started to exit and move north. That’s what happened. High tech moved into Seattle and you know what that attracts. So sad, it used to be a place you dreamed of retiring to, now it’s a nightmare.

Back in the late 60s some Indian Guru made some prediction that California would fall into the ocean, earthquakes, etc. An incredible number of hippies were taking LSD back then. So lots of deranged freaks decided to leave Calif. Most of them decided on Oregon and Colorado because hippies. This explains partially why you get such ridiculous centers of lunacy in otherwise conservative areas. Portland and Boulder seem to be the main epicenters of this diaspora of hippie nutcases.

We will not give up the coasts. We are not going to have a ‘divorce’. We WILL clean out the cancer when the balance tips.
Bend is getting full of itself, and the "hip, trendy" types are moving there. I expect it to fully become an oasis of insanity in the eastern Oregon desert. The real estate prices are already indicating what's going on.
