"We've learned more due to research and additional scientific evidence and now we know [that] not only wearing a mask prevents the person wearing the mask to transmit to others, but wearing the mask protects the person who's wearing it," said Dean Blumberg, chief of pediatric infectious diseases at UC Davis Childrens Hospital. "So the wearer of the mask, even the standard rectangular surgical masks...will decrease the risk of infection by the person wearing the mask by about 65 percent."

Are we at 2.2 million Covid deaths yet in the USA?, After all, experts say.......
Not for use in healthcare settings.
I’ve noticed too that eye protection seems to left out of the general discussion on widely applied mask mandates.
A great deal of the populace is gobsmacked on the proper use of a turn signal. But hope springs eternal.
Great except facial hair negated the claimed effect, as does improper fit, and everyone loves to inhale their own bacteria and virus particles which naturally goes along with a vastly decreased oxygen intake, helping to lose brain cells and move the wearer along to become a brain dead Dem voter with a potential for Hypoxia. Not to mention most masks pass aerosols without hindrance.
Sars was a reason to create a vaccine, and they have been trying since then.
I am anti politicians playing doctor on tv.
It costs Trillions and accomplished nothing.
And 93.2% of them are wrong.
Oh! Experts say! Well!
Rejoice Fearper Karens; more bullshit for you to believe.
“Eggs are bad for you”
Butter too. Remember that? Eat margarine. Oooops....
So - how did he determine this? No practical way to do it w/o excluding all other behaviors/distancing/hygiene, etc...
Nurses and a local epidemiologist disagree and they have a lot more data than what this mini-Fauci provides.

At present, there is no direct evidence (from studies on COVID-19 and in healthy people in the community) on the effectiveness of universal masking of healthy people in the community to prevent infection with respiratory viruses, including COVID-19.
And
At the present time, the widespread use of masks by healthy people in the community setting is not yet supported by high quality or direct scientific evidence and there are potential benefits and harms to consider...
Sixty five percent of what?
That’s like all the statistics that say if you do this you will increase your risk of death by three times. Without a base it is meaningless, ie, if the death rate is 3 in a hundred thousand, increasing the rate by three times is still only nine in a hundred thousand.

It’s nice to see this posted. I keep reading on this board about the dangers in masks and that the masks don’t work. Obviously, the science shows this is all nonsense coming from people who just don’t want to wear the mask. Further, if masks are so dangerous, then why am I not seeing people dropping dead all over the place who wear them. A mask, while it won’t give 100 percent protection, is part of a multiple barrier system to help reduce the spread of the virus especially inside public places and in crowds.
When its convenient:
*masks are not going to help you.
*masks should be worn.
*masks help prevent you from spreading the virus.
*masks prevent you from catching the virus even though a virus can pass through it.
The CDC has the same credibility as the DOJ/FBI——NONE.
