How many governments will fall to this virus?

More than one.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old fart’s life, it's worth it.

Seeking Mercy

In pandemic we humans in error perceive
We cannot see the forest from the trees
At first we think the risk is small
Something so far away cannot affect us all.

As numbers grow we think all is lost
Work and school cease at such a cost
To keep each other safe we do not roam
We keep our distance and stay at home.

For the virus is a living being
It must have a host to do its thing
Without a new infection it cannot thrive
Thus in time it will surely die.

We trust our science to find a way
Concoct a cure to keep illness at bay
As for now there is little to do
But wonder why life can be so cruel.

We offer thoughts to those afflicted
And pray to God that we not be infected
Lost in the forest and the trees
Beg this tempest of death to take its leave.

Weak Republican Governor Ducey (AZ) caved to liberal mayors and ordered stay at home policy yesterday.

NY

Coronavirus has now killed a total of 1,550 people across the state of New York – an increase of 332 people in just 24 hours. The grim figure was revealed by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo at a press conference Tuesday, and rose sharply from the 1,218 killed over the preceding 24 hours. Governor Cuomo said an extra 9,220 people had tested positive for coronavirus since Monday, bringing the total number of Covid-19 diagnoses across his state to more than 76,000. During Tuesday’s press conference, Governor Cuomo said 10,929 people have now been hospitalized across New York with coronavirus – an increase of 1,412 in 24 hours. He added that 2,710 of those patients are in intensive care, an increase of 358 overnight. The updates from New York – currently the world’s leading coronavirus hotspot – mean the US has almost 175,000 coronavirus diagnoses.

Comment: so I tried a couple of times to listen to the Brooklyn scanner and I really need a translator to understand half of it, lol. Of course, we have someone that sounds like Earnest T. Bass on our local dispatch today (here in GA) and he’s not much better lol

Wrecking the economy in response to the virus will cause the fall.

GA

COVID-19 Confirmed Cases: No. Cases (%)
Total 3817 (100%)
Hospitalized 818(21.43%)
Deaths 108 (2.83%)

Good news - our fatality rate dropped some. Praying it’s a trend! In a local interview a woman mentioned being given a drug in the hospital that they said would keep her organs from shutting down. Could it be HCQ?

Last time I went to Winn Dixie, I felt like I was in the Fallout 3 Grocery.

I kept waiting for the raiders to come out of the employee area.

Japan (as of March 30) less than 2000 cases, 50+ deaths, no lockdown

Hong Kong — about 700 cases

Singapore — about 400 cases

Sweden, Holland, no lockdown (herd immunity concept)

New York City — about 35,000 cases, lockdown

We must be doing something wrong, or the media is hyping
a non-crisis, or both
