Seeking Mercy
In pandemic we humans in error perceive
We cannot see the forest from the trees
At first we think the risk is small
Something so far away cannot affect us all.
As numbers grow we think all is lost
Work and school cease at such a cost
To keep each other safe we do not roam
We keep our distance and stay at home.
For the virus is a living being
It must have a host to do its thing
Without a new infection it cannot thrive
Thus in time it will surely die.
We trust our science to find a way
Concoct a cure to keep illness at bay
As for now there is little to do
But wonder why life can be so cruel.
We offer thoughts to those afflicted
And pray to God that we not be infected
Lost in the forest and the trees
Beg this tempest of death to take its leave.
Well done. Captures it all.
Amen.
Thank you for such a beautiful prayer.
