How Stephen King Predicted Trump's Rise Decades Ago
Author Stephen King predicted the rise of Trump 40 years ago but he says the reality is scarier than anything hes written.
In US news, Stephen King sat down with NowThis to talk about President Trump and the eerie similarities between Donald Trump and the Stephen King Dead Zone character 'Greg Stillson.' Dead Zone is a novel King wrote in 1979, it features a a politician Greg Stillson, Donald Trump like in many ways. The Greg Stillson Trump similarities include his outlandish behavior and rise to power that is similar to the rise of Trump and the rise of Trumpism. But according to Stephen King, Donald Trump in reality is even scarier than what he wrote. Stephen King adaptations are extremely popular in movies and TV these days, and he continues to write books like The Shining sequel of sorts Doctor Sleep.

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against ALL ENEMIES, foreign AND DOMESTIC; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God." (Title 10, US Code; Act of 5 May 1960 replacing the wording first adopted in 1789, with amendment effective 5 October 1962).
This song, also from about 40 years ago, seems much more prescient of our president...
The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead
XTC
Let’s begin
Peter Pumpkinhead came to town
Spreading wisdom and cash around
Fed the starving and housed the poor
Showed the Vatican what gold’s for
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?
Oh my!
Peter Pumpkinhead fooled them all
Emptied churches and shopping malls
When he spoke, it would raise the roof
Peter Pumpkinhead told the truth.
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?
Oh my!
Peter Pumpkinhead put to shame
Governments who would slur his name
Plots and sex scandals failed outright
Peter merely said
Any kind of love is alright.
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?
Peter Pumpkinhead was too good
Had him nailed to a chunk of wood
He died grinning on live TV
Hanging there he looked a lot like you
And an awful lot like me!
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkinhead?
Hooray for Peter Pumpkin
Who’ll pray for Peter Pumpkin
Hooray for Peter Pumpkinhead
Oh my oh my oh!
Don’t it make you want to cry, oh

Wow that really describes Trump, and you know another thing I remember is the Occupy Wall street protestors asking for a President who was not a professional politician “an outsider”. Well now we have one. And what did the Occupy Wall street protestors do? Start Antifa and beat up Trump supporters.
A few years ago, King was bragging about getting sober (blurbs on the jackets of some of his books so I’m not “outing” him) - I think he has fallen way off that wagon and may be approaching wet-brain status...
Went to her IMDB on Christine and yeah, lots of other pictures of her there.
I knew that would draw you out.
:D
I thought that Obama fit it much better.
I actually have that book and never got around to reading it. If it’s better than the movie then I’ll definitely read it because I thought the movie was pretty good.
Awesome, thanks I’ll check it out
King doesnt do subtle. In the book Stillson is a Bible salesman who kicks a dog. In the Green Mile, an abusive orderly at a nursing home drives off and his car has a Newt Gingrich sticker on it. In a terrible book called Liseys Story, a woman has mental issues and to test her cognitive abilities, a cop asks her to name the president. George W. Bush, unfortunately. I didnt read it, but I understand Under the Dome has Sarah Palin-bashing. King doesnt do subtle.
Hateful leftist propaganda (is there any other kind ?). I tried to watch the CBS series version of “Under the Dome”, got a few minutes into it and there was the in-your-face lesbian storyline. Had enough of that crap.
