Almost every major hotel chain is using keyless locks on all their rooms now.
Most security isn’t super spy sophisticated, this is true whether it is house keys or padlock combinations. “Locks only keep honest people out” has a bit of truth to it.
Heats the difference between a fob and one of the clicker type keys I use?is the clicker type key safe???
Data tracker, homing device, theft enhancer.
All for a mere $4 to $5 hundred dollars.
Gimme back my key!
That’s what I was thinking.. Lock and unlock are two different buttons, obviously two different signals since it doesn’t toggle. Heck, I can’t push the button, locking my door, and close it. To prevent people from locking their keys in, my car must be locked from the outside.
It is the truth, anyone that has the urge can easily buy a lock pick kit. I used to have to have one working in the lock dept of a big chain store. I didn't sleep well for a week after discovering just how easy it really is.
Since, probably, 99% of us Freepers have this on our cars does that make us stupid? My truck does not allow for manual locking upon exiting. I guess you don't have this so you're a genius. Nice to know.
Was I the only one waiting for the punchline from sodpoodle?
I know if I try to manually lock my doors with the fob (keyless start) in the truck, the truck will bark at me and unlock the door when I close it.
“Snopes Approved”
Which means it is probably fabricated
You can always buy I physical steering wheel lock. I figure the guys with the electronic gizmos are unlikely to have saws and drills.
Designers always overlook the human factor - that humans will break the rules and try to subvert any system that you can invent.
Thank you... good info.
Try to even find a keyhole on a new mid-level car.
Why, what a novel idea
How long has this been around?
Sarcasm, of course.
We continue to demand more and more leisure, to the point of having to have a beam of electrons to lock our cars for us as we walk away from them
I'm becoming more and more of a Luddite and the current generation appears to be getting lazier and lazier.
Period.
If they were to confirm that Trump is POTUS and that I'm still alive...I still wouldn't believe 'em.
Snopes sux...in all things.
My 2008 Ranger uses a KEY. Problem solved.
I’ll take the two little guys (Yorkie Poo siblings) with me to pickup takeout food. They stay in the truck while I go in the restaurant. I have to hit the inside door lock button to lock the doors rather than using the embedded sensor on the exterior door handle or the fob. If I don’t do it that way, the boys set off the alarm before I’m even across the parking lot. I’m pretty sure they think it’s funny. Using the interior button doesn’t set the interior motion sensor I guess, but I believe the alarm would go off if someone tried to break into the vehicle.
It’s just too much newfangled stuff for an old guy to remember.
I hate thieves.
