At a recent fundraiser for restaurant workers struggling with addiction at the Nashville restaurant City House, Kamal Kalokoh, a chef with Jamaican roots, handed out plates of roast; a soul singer backed by a horn section belted out tunes; and Trevor Moran, an Irish chef who came to Nashville from Copenhagens Nomaoften called the best restaurant in the worldstood behind a rickety table making Japanese kakigori, piles of matcha-dusted shaved ice hiding surprising hunks of greens or kiwi.

Yummy, just what I wanted in Tennessee ...Japanese cacagori. Nash-vile is gone.
If it makes you feel better: Nashville fried chicken is the latest foodie trend in global Los Angeles.
I only went to Nashville once. The highway was backed up and family members needed to go to the bathroom. tHe only place around wasa Dollar General, and the whole area was like a global city alright, a global city in the Third World.
That’s the trend now. I dont know where this started but I’ve been to a few of these “Nashville” chicken outfits in L.A. It’s alright, but I wont go out of my way to plan for it.
Every time I went to Nashville, the streets were torn up for construction.
Is Nashvegas going to start pimping K-pop bands?
Sounds like you got off at eighth avenue south which is projects and hood but within shouting distance of second avenue and downtown neon and glitz
That area is where the natives burned down the dollar general in a tizzy over a police shooting so dollar general built it back bigger and better
Even that area is now gentrifying at the edges
I detest Hipster ethnic fetishized food
Japanese or Burgers ...its tiresome and overpriced
Farm to table
Sustainable
Kiss my ass
Its still is
440 is under revamping right now
Its a mess
Now everyone chokes downtown trying to go east and west and avoid downtown
Its not like Los Angeles or Atlanta or DC traffic
But its much worse than it used to be
When everything went 10/8/4 lane around the city in the late 90s it helped immensely

I lived in Huntsville AL 32 years ago and I would take my young family to Nashville for a family outing. It looks like nothing has has changed.
Spring Hill filled up yet? I gave up on possibly moving to Franklin.
If a city is turning into a global city , my gut reaction is to stay away.
I dont know how Franklin is these days, 30 years ago, it was a very nice place.
Going to a Kroger around here in Nashville is like walking into a Star Wars Cantina. Used to be associated with Country Music and now, no one knows what the hell its associated with..other than its crowded as hell.
You have described just about any metro area in the United States. Even small metro areas have their third world zones.
My parents moved from Jackson Mississippi to Murphreesboro Tennessee oddly enough July 4 weekend 1978 when I was at Ole Miss
Nashville metro population then was 700,000
Now its likely north of 2M
I moved here in mid 1997
Youre dead wrong it hasnt changed
Its incredible actually
Folks are disappointed to find its not very southern
Its still country though in parts
Franklin and Williamson county still have plenty room
But its expensive
May drive me further out county
My home unexpectedly is becoming my biggest net asset
Im doing rounds now from Goose Creek to downtown to west Nashville then to mount Juliet and Lebanon
Dearth of traffic
Amazing
There is a lot of traffic going into Downtown for the fireworks display i supposed
Any city that is turning cosmopolitan is going to be a shithole as it slowly loses its soul. Nashville/Davidson County is a blue chancre in an ocean of red Tennessee.
