Arby's has flipped the vegan 'meat' trend on its head (tr)

From venison, elk, and duck to sandwiches with layers upon layers of meat and curly fries stacked on top, Arby's has offered some particularly unique products in the past.

Now the sandwich chain is flipping the vegan "meat" trend on its head, leaning into its "We have the meats" slogan and creating its most bizarre concoction yet: the "megetable," a vegetable made out of meat.

And Arby's new megetable, the "Marrot," is exactly what it sounds like: a meat-based carrot that not only tastes like the orange vegetable but has much of its nutritional value.

The sandwiches are OK but the ads make them look better than they are.

Like so much in life................

There are no Arbys in my area but travelling to north Carolina in April Dom and I ate at a few.

The rueben was good.

We’ve been warned for years against eating highly processed foods. This sounds like really processed!

If I want meat I will eat MEAT.

What in the world?
Can you imagine the money they spent on R&D getting this product designed, produced, tested and promoted?
The result is ‘interesting’, but I don’t see it catching on.
But then, what do I know? I’m not even worth $1 Million Dollars, while Arby’s net value is at least $1.7 Billion.
So, they have the money to dabble in foods that imitate other foods.

My favorite is their good old roast beef sandwich but I did enjoy one of their gyros recently.

The rueben was good.
But a rueben needs toasted bread

You’re missing the tongue in cheek nature of this proffering of the Marrot.

I object to people assuming that what Arby’s calls meat is actually meat.

True Fact: I am responsible for Arbys policy on handing out Horsey Sauce and Arby Sauce packets. I started an international incident in the 90s which resulted in me lobbing a regular roast beef sandwhich at a rogue managers head.

Arbys gave me $500 and rewrote their packet policy so as thery must provide EXACTLY the amount of sauce packets requested.

Im rather proud of that!

the new Arbys Greek style gyro is the bomb! It actually stands up to a Gyro in a real upscale Greek resturant.

But I don’t want meat that tastes like icky carrots. If I wanted to taste carrots, I’d eat some.

Arby’s meat always had a weird off taste to me. I much prefer the roast beef sandwiches at http://www.royrogersrestaurants.com but their geography is fairly limited.
