There is no DNA, only minerals. Molecules and atoms slowly leak out over millions of years. Nothing preserves for that long.
But it may be possible to have the DNA code preserved as mineral rock.
Actual DNA only preserves for 10,000s of years, not millions.

vannrox, thanks for posting this news.
It is absolutely amazing news. I follow science discoveries closely, and have never heard of marine animal remains captured in amber before.
The fact that the ammonite shell was preserved in amber IS fantastic news!

Birds grab them from all kinds of places; flys to nest in tree; sucks goodies out and drops shell.

Actual DNA only preserves for 10,000s of years, not millions. They've successfully extracted DNA from termites preserved in amber from about 30 million years ago, and from a magnolia leaf preserved in claystone from about 20 million years. Not nearly as old as the fossils in this article, but much older than your claim that DNA can only last for tens of thousands of years in rock.

My initial thought was that is a pretty old body of a person from Vietnam to have been found. Why, once upon a time Vietnam was referred to as Ammon and its people were Ammonites.

I think it was their roasting marshmallows to make S'mores is what caused the warming.

I agree. I don't believe there's ever been an actual ammonite shell discovered, only their fossilized remains.
